Inflation for the month of April increased to 16.8% from the 16.6% recorded in March 2015.<\/p>\n

The food inflation for April was 7.2% same as March 2015 while non food inflation recorded 23.2% moving up 0.1% from that of March 1015 which was 23.1%.<\/p>\n
The main price drivers for non food inflation rate were housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels which was at 25.0%, transport 24.5%, and clothing and foot wear 23.7%.<\/p>\n
The consumer price index measures the change over time in the general price levels of goods and service that households require for the purpose of consumption.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi Business News Government Statistician Dr. Philomena Nyarko predicted there will be price stability if there is an increase in local production which she says will bring about a drop in inflation figures.<\/p>\n
The year on year on inflation rate for imported items was 19.7% for April 2015 while that for locally produced items was 15.6%.<\/p>\n
Central region again recorded the highest combined inflation of 18.9% and non food inflation rate of 26.2% while the Eastern region recoded the lowest inflation rate of 14.1% for April 2015.
