The Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) has described the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) as the worst in the country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
The party\u2019s National Chairman, Allotey Hammond told Citi News that the party’s conclusion is based on the current economic challenges bedevilling the country.<\/p>\n

The PPP’s criticism against the Mahama-led administration comes days after the Catholic Bishops Conference took a swipe at the NDC for failing to resolve the energy crisis and other economic challenges.<\/p>\n
The Bishops noted in a communiqu\u00e9 after their meeting in Accra, Saturday, that high cost of goods and services coupled with a depreciating Cedi is making Ghana\u2019s economy \u201cfast becoming one of buying and selling.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cUnbearably high taxes are causing many nascent private businesses to fold up. At the same time, we are not seeing aggressive efforts to set up more industries to take care of rising youth unemployment and low levels of development,\u201d the communiqu\u00e9 signed by Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu, Bishop of Konongo-Mampong and President, Ghana Catholic Bishops\u2019 Conference, indicated.<\/p>\n
The Bishops also spoke about the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS), saying\u00a0\u201cthe continuous and repeated failure to reimburse facilities on time, the incessant threats of service withdrawal by service providers, among others, continue to plague the Scheme.”<\/p>\n
