The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has called off a planned demonstration to protest the introduction of a new government policy that will see students in the country\u2019s tertiary institutions pay utility bills.<\/p>\n
The suspension of the demonstration comes days after government announced that Cabinet was yet decide on the policy.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”kPTnvRwHPkHFbfbAPqpeOrpGpKhfdbyt”]The Deputy Minister of Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa earlier called for calm at the various tertiary institutions, saying government is yet to take a decision<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>on the matter based on the UPSA declaration.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News,<\/strong> the General Secretary of NUGS, Iddi Muhayu-Deen \u00a0however said they had rescinded their decision and will wait on government to take measures to address the issue.<\/p>\n \u201cEventually government is clearing the air, allaying our fears that there is any such policy in place,” Muhayu-Deen said.<\/p>\n
