The Head of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the West Mamprusi district of the Northern Region is appealing to Non\u2013Governmental Organizations and agencies to come to the aid of residents displaced by the recent rainstorm in the Nasia community.<\/p>\n
About 123,000 residents who were rendered homeless following Sunday\u2019s torrential rains are now living with neighbours whose houses were spared.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”fiGnR7abCcinYQGv95sMA3ah3X8stp0E”]”Help is yet to come to the affected persons three days after the rainstorm, because the local NADMO Office has told Citi FM<\/strong> that it had run out of relief items.\u00a0My office has run out of items needed to help the displaced persons and I am yet to write a report to the National Headquarters in Accra to assist us,\u201d James Braimah stated.<\/p>\n The West Mamprusi NADMO boss also appealed to philanthropists to assist them with mattresses, cement, clothes and other relief items in order to ameliorate the present living conditions of affected persons.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are simply overwhelmed because the damage is just too much.\u00a0With the onset of the rains, the situation will worsen that is why I want everyone who has the capacity, to provide us with some relief items so that the affected persons can return to their homes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n This rainstorm comes almost three weeks after a similar one destroyed school buildings in the Machoni, Gulyansi and Lanja primary schools in the Nanumba North District causing the\u00a0 pupils\u00a0 in these schools to study under trees.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Pearl Akanya Ofori \/Citifmonline .com\/Ghana
