{"id":114176,"date":"2015-05-06T11:07:32","date_gmt":"2015-05-06T11:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=114176"},"modified":"2015-05-06T12:50:34","modified_gmt":"2015-05-06T12:50:34","slug":"rainstorm-render-hundreds-homeless-in-nasia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/05\/rainstorm-render-hundreds-homeless-in-nasia\/","title":{"rendered":"Rainstorm render hundreds homeless in Nasia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About 1,200 residents of the Nasia community in the West Mamprusi District of the Northern Region have been displaced by a severe rainstorm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Seventy eight houses comprising 319 rooms were completely ripped off and the displaced persons are now living with family relations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The District National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) confirmed the statistics to Citi News.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The displaced people include 482 students of the St. Pauls Senior High school whose dormitory block was completely ripped off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-114177\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-12.jpg\" alt=\"image (12)\" width=\"663\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-12.jpg 663w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-12-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 663px) 100vw, 663px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The school management has created makeshift structures to accommodate the students outside the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nasia District Assembly primary school block which was funded by the Millennium Challenge Account and furnished with computers, a television and other learning materials was also ripped off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Head teacher, Yamusah Tahiru appealed to the Member of Parliament for Walewale\u00a0constituency, the District assembly and NADMO to rapidly re-roof the school block.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said any delay in re-roofing it could affect school reopening scheduled for May 12, 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also complained about overcrowding in the classrooms for which reason government should expand infrastructure there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A middle age man called Shiraz Bawumia who was hit by some ripped off materials was admitted at the Walewale District Hospital,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The victims who are counting their losses are appealing to government and other philanthropists for assistance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Walewale Member of Parliament, Dr. Sugri Bambangi who rushed to the scene upon distressed call advised residents of the area to cultivate the habit of planting trees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-114179\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-14.jpg\" alt=\"image (14)\" width=\"605\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-14.jpg 605w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/image-14-300x223.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This, according to him will serve as wind breaks to mitigate the impact of such future occurrences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Sugri pledged his commitment to liaise with the District Assembly to re-roof the affected school buildings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further promised to mobilize relief items to complement NADMO\u2019s assistance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Nasia chief, Mozurana-Dan N.
