The New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) vetting of Parliamentary aspirants, \u00a0one person is reportedly injured in the Asante Akyim North constituency after angry NPP youth clashed with constituency executives during vetting on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”jQ68YjNEXc81z7lTBrvbkgJNLLr3h6cT”]The NPP Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim North, Kojo Baah Agyeman described the events as sad and called on the party\u2019s leadership to strive to address the problem.<\/p>\n

He said “the constituency executives have reported the matter to the Chairman and they’ve also lodged a formal complaint at the regional executives as well.”<\/p>\n

“They are capable men who can manage and control this situation. I\u2019m a peaceful person, I don\u2019t believe in assault, hooliganism and all that. From my position and where I\u2019m coming from I don\u2019t believe in this thing. It\u2019s the constituency that matters, it\u2019s the national election that matters, it will help the constituency. We don\u2019t need to sit down and let this be an albatross to Asante Akyim North.”<\/p>\n

The National Chairman of the party, Paul Awentani Afoko had earlier called on party officials to eschew tendencies<\/a><\/strong><\/span> that could disrupt the party’s parliamentary primaries.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour only consideration in the selection of Parliamentary candidates should be how the person can win us more votes in both Parliamentary and Presidential,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The NPP on Monday begun vetting parliamentary aspirants<\/a><\/strong><\/span> nationwide ahead of their June 13 primaries.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, most of the constituencies will end vetting the aspirants on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
