A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Halidu Haruna, has apologized for verbally assaulting the Ghanaian female celebrities who criticized the government’s handling of the power crisis.<\/p>\n
Alhaji Haruna described the celebrities who criticized President John Mahama as unmarried prostitutes on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n
He received heavy public backlash on social media which forced him to retract and apologize.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, a teary Alhaji Haruna said he wishes he never uttered those words.<\/p>\n \u201cI am dumbfounded as I speak to you now. I wish I could swallow back those words but unfortunately, those words are out there in the public domain. I want to once again retract and reemphasize the apology and say that I am sorry to those I many have disappointed by those words,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He indicated that although it is unfortunate that \u201cI got myself into this, I am not part of those who create controversy and are happy about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked why he apologized for his derogatory comments, Alhaji Haruna said: \u201cWhen you put out something and one or two people disagree with you, it should actually dawn on you that something is wrong and that is what makes you a human being.\u201d<\/p>\n
