Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney known in show business as DKB, has advised the general public not to tag celebrities who will partake in his upcoming demonstration over the energy crisis as a supporter of any political party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”RAdf2tpVLsLn7F399FYLxAdq7meRnXWw”]He stressed that the energy crisis is a national issue and it is imperative for citizens to come together to pressure the government to address it without the political labels.

DKB is to lead some Ghanaian celebrities on a demonstration to force the Mahama-led government to find an immediate solution to the three-year energy crisis which is negatively affecting many households and businesses.

Some award winning actors and musicians including Lydia Forson, Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, John Dumelo and Becca have taken to social media to express their frustration with the government’s handling of the crisis.

Their rants caught the attention of social media users in Ghana who joined in with the hash tag #Dumsormustend in an attempt to get the government to make do its promise of ending the crisis.

Speaking to Citi News, DKB said: “This is for all of us because when the lights are put off; they don’t put off the lights of NPP [New Patriotic Party] supporters and leave that of the NDC [National Democratic Congress] supporters on.”

“They put all of Ghana off so it’s a Ghana issue, it’s a national issue and we are the front leaders of showbiz and these people look up to us so if must speak,” he added.

DKB also mentioned that another reason for the demonstration is that persons in the entertainment industry have also been “hard hit so we are tired, we are fed up so we want to add additional pressure to the government to hasten the process of solving this. There are too many promises and we are tired!”

He however urged the general public to join them demonstrate against this “dumsor canker!”

According to him, processes are underway to notify the Police administration about the planned demonstration.
