The Trades Union Congress (TUC) is demanding an immediate end to three-year power crisis.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”NYcO3ugZTklb4Oauv6noz7EGb9dQ6vWy”]The TUC\u2019s Secretary General, Kofi Asamoah said government is taking too long to solve the crisis which has put the jobs of many Ghanaian workers at risk.<\/p>\n

He told the President, John Mahama to provide the leadership that will lead the nation \u201cout of this severe power crisis\u2026it is taking too long to fix it\u2026We are beginning to lose hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over 13,000 workers have been laid off<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>and thousands more are expected to follow as the power crisis rages on.<\/p>\n

Government has expressed concern over the massive job cuts but has given the assurance that it is putting in place effective measures to end the crisis.<\/p>\n

It is also exploring other power sources such as solar<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and bio-septic tanks<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to produce electricity for consumption.<\/p>\n

Addressing the 2015 May Day parade which was on the theme: \u201cAddressing the energy crisis; the role of organized labour,\u201d Mr. Asamoah indicated that the energy crisis is of prime concern to workers because \u201cthe untold effects on businesses are putting our job security at great risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

He mentioned that thousands of Ghanaian workers have lost their jobs due to the situation and many more are likely to suffer the same fate if the crisis persist.<\/p>\n

The TUC boss acknowledged that the energy crisis \u201cdid not start from today, we know that you are not the only person who has created the energy crisis but the energy crisis is during your tenure.\u201d<\/p>\n

He attributed the crisis to the \u201clong period of neglect spanning through several political tenures,\u201d but nonetheless charged the President to \u201cdo everything possible to end the energy crisis. It must end now!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have found yourself in the driver\u2019s seat at a time when we are facing one of the severest since independence.\u201d<\/p>\n
