Scores of fisherfolks at Kpong on Tuesday demonstrated against the chief fisherman of the area, Nii Tetteh Ashong calling for his removal.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”FZiU0gikDU4yycviwFXQqIvrvIzkU0p2″]They accuse him of being \u201cselfish\u201d and not championing the cause of the fishermen.<\/p>\n

A petition was presented to the district assembly after the demonstration.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson of the fishermen John Tetteh explained to Citi News’ Elvis Washington that\u00a0instead of fighting for the cause of the fishermen Nii Ashong \u201cis always [seen] at the traditional council selling lands and he doesn’t help us at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is selling the premix fuel and he doesn\u2019t use the profits to develop the beach. He is using it for his own gains,\u201d said John Tetteh.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the fishermen also performed some traditional rites aimed at removing Mr Nii Tetteh Ashong from the position.<\/p>\n
