West: Armenian genocide victims \u2018Should Never Be Forgotten\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1429942300769_497\">On April 24, 1915, in the waning days of the Ottoman Empire, governmental authorities rounded up 250 Armenians in what is now known as Istanbul.<\/p>\n<p>The prisoners were later executed. While there is no official tally of how many Armenians were eventually murdered by the Ottoman government, the general consensus is that between 500,000 and 1.5 million Armenians lost their lives in the three years that followed.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1429942300769_1407\">One hundred years later, Kim Kardashian, the world&#8217;s most famous Armenian \u2014 sorry, Michael Vartan \u2014 has made it her mission to make sure those who lost their lives are not forgotten.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1429942300769_1491\">The word genocide was actually coined to describe what happened to the Armenian people between 1915 and 1918, yet the Armenian Genocide has not been formally acknowledged by most world governments, including the U.S.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-111319\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Capture4.jpg\" alt=\"Capture\" width=\"507\" height=\"559\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Capture4.jpg 507w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Capture4-272x300.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-111320\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/i1.jpg\" alt=\"i\" width=\"503\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/i1.jpg 503w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/i1-300x107.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is because the Turkish government (a NATO ally) rejects the use of the word.
