The 10 member committee set-up by the Electoral Commission (EC) to review proposals for electoral reform is expected to submit its report to the commission today.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court called on the Electoral Commission to undertake some level of electoral reforms during the election petition in 2012.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”KzgQmrv7vziYrkmhJ13sGwfavvL2WRKz”]The Electoral Commission subsequently inaugurated the committee in January to oversee the implementation of electoral reforms ahead of the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
The committee, which is chaired by a member of the EC, Georgina Opoku Amankwa, has Kwabena Agyapong of the NPP, the NDC\u2019s Asiedu Nketia,\u00a0 James Kwabena Bomfeh of the\u00a0 CPP and Anim Kofi Addo\u00a0 of the Yes People\u2019s Party (YPP) as some of the members.<\/p>\n
The rest are Christian Owusu Parry, Rebecca Kabuki, Kwesi Jonah, of the\u00a0 Institute of Democratic Governance , Dr. Ransford Gyampoh of the Institute of Economic Affairs and Dr Franklin Oduro, of the Center for Democratic Development.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Afari-Gyan at the inauguration of the committee tasked them to submit their report within three months from the time of its inauguration.<\/p>\n
