Filing of nomination forms for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary primaries will be over by April 30, 2015.<\/p>\n

They include Sheikh Yakubu Abdul Karim in Sagnarigu, Barhama Ibrahim Anyass Baba Repairer, Tamale central, Iddrisu Muqtar Dems, Kumbungu constituency and Mohammed Abdul Samed Gunu, Savelugu constituency.<\/p>\n
The NPP regional Secretary, Sule Salifu confirmed this in a Citi News interview.<\/p>\n
He said 120 nomination forms were sent for distribution to Parliamentary hopefuls in the region.<\/p>\n
According to him, all 10 incumbent northern NPP Members of Parliament seeking re-election have filed their nomination forms.<\/p>\n
They include the MP for Bimbila who doubles as Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, \u00a0Dominic Nitiwul.<\/p>\n
Veteran Broadcaster with Tamale based North Star Radio, Sheikh Yakubu Abdul Karim who contested the 2012 Parliamentary election admonished party delegates to renew his candidature during the primary.<\/p>\n
He was optimistic of winning the seat in 2016 for which reason his mandate should be renewed.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Yakubu lost the seat to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) incumbent MP, A.B.A Fuseini.<\/p>\n
He attributed his defeat to Abudu and Andani politics which dominated the 2012 campaign season in the Sagnarigu constituency.<\/p>\n
He accused A.B.A Fuseini of doing little to improve the welfare of his constituents.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Yakubu claimed that the Sagnarigu constituents were poised for change in 2016.<\/p>\n
In the Savelugu constituency, Mohammed Abdul Samed Gunu who contested the 2012 Parliamentary election blamed his defeat on lack of vigilance.<\/p>\n
He insinuated that the results were manipulated by some Electoral Commission officials.<\/p>\n
He pointed to some pink sheets from the Savelugu constituency tendered in evidence during the landmark Supreme Court election petition to buttress his claim.<\/p>\n
He appealed to the delegates to give him a second chance to wrestle the seat from the NDC\u2019s Hajia Mary Boforo who has been in Parliament since 1992.<\/p>\n
One of the lead contenders in the Tamale central constituency Parliamentary race, Barhama Ibrahim Anyass Baba Repairer said his chances of winning the seat were bright.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe difference we are offering is this: I think that if you take the context of what has been happening in Tamale central, the dynamics have totally changed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI say that the dynamics have changed because the people who have always been taken for granted by the party that seems to think that the people do not matter and all that matters is their personal egos and the conflictual issues that they think grant them the advantage that they can just forget the people and win the seat at anytime are things that the people themselves are dismissing and will look for someone who will offer them the sort of leadership that will lead them into the century that they deserve to be in and into a century that will always root for their personal development and personal progress,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He thus implored party delegates to repose confidence in him as their winnable Parliamentary candidate for 2016.<\/p>\n
Iddrisu Muqtar Dems who is looking for space on the 2016 Kumbungu constituency Parliamentary ballot paper on the NPP\u2019s ticket opined that complacency caused the party\u2019s defeat in 2012.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no constituency in Ghana that can be said to be for only one particular party: every party has equal right to win a constituency provided the party fields a marketable candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n
He described himself as a time tested and astute politician capable of winning the seat in 2016.<\/p>\n
\u201cPreviously we have not been working so hard to win the constituency and I feel, I hope and I believe strongly that with me as the candidate I will win the seat for the first time for the New Patriotic Party, the NPP.\u201d<\/p>\n
