Police in the Northern Region have arrested 11 people in connection with the recent clashes in Bunkprugu.<\/p>\n
The suspects, who are all men, were arrested in separate police swoops.<\/p>\n
Two persons were killed<\/strong><\/span><\/a> whilst more than a dozen people sustained gunshot wounds in a chieftaincy conflict between the Jafog and Jamong clans, in the Bunkprugu\/Yunyoo District of the Northern region.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”HyYeo4W3vrxMOlYPQnnHpXnuILFsbgwS”]Over 20\u00a0houses were also burnt down during the clash.<\/p>\n Bunkprugu Yunyoo, District Police Commander, ASP Felix Kumado told CitiFM<\/strong> on Thursday that four of the suspects were seized in connection with the two murders and the remaining seven in connection with the burning of houses.<\/p>\n \u201cWe arrested three who were trying to escape on a motor bike from Bunkprugu to Nankpanduri, one was arrested in Tamale and the other seven were arrested in the Bunkprugu Township\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n ASP Felix Kumado could not provide the names or ages of the suspects but said that they were being grilled by the police and those found to have committed the heinous crime will be charged, put before court and made to face the full rigors of the law.<\/p>\n Following the deadly clashes, two weeks ago, the Ministry of Interior has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Nankpanduri\u00a0 and surrounding areas in the Northern region.<\/p>\n The Ministry has also banned anyone from carrying arms, and any offensive weapons within the affected communities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n By: Pearl Akanya Ofori\/ Citifmonline.com\/ Ghana.
