Government has directed that the national flags should fly at half-mast for the next 3 days in the country in honour of Mrs Theodosia Okoh, the designer of the national flag.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”AEB8NHAYl3V4Cat8JI2QvWUKE5hYthN6″]Mrs Theodosia Okoh died at age 92<\/strong><\/a><\/span> after she took ill for some time.<\/p>\n

A statement which eulogized Mrs Okoh and signed by Edward K Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications, stated that the directive is \u201cin honour of this extraordinary Ghanaian.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the statement, \u201cGovernment acknowledges Mrs Okoh for her invaluable contributions\u00a0 to our nation building efforts. The instant recognition that our nation receives the world over through the unique flag that she designed for us has cemented her place in history as a colossus of Ghanaian history.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernment also recognises her contributions to the development of sports in Ghana. She worked tirelessly together with others to promote and grow hockey in the country and will be sorely missed by all in that field.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHer talent, zeal and sense of duty to Ghana will continue to offer inspiration for Ghanaians and serve as a reference point in service to the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
