President John Mahama has said said government is committed to revamping the Volta Aluminum company limited (VALCO) and make it more efficient and effective.<\/p>\n
The power-dependent company, which is currently operating only one out of its five pot-lines has been hard hit by the power crisis facing the country.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n If all five pot-lines of the company were operating, it could produce 2,000 metric tonnes of alumina per day.<\/p>\n Speaking to workers of the company when he paid a working visit to the factory, President Mahama directed that when the current power crises is over, all other surplus power should\u00a0 be given to VALCO.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI want to give you a commitment not only for the revival of VALCO but to also to backward integrate VALCO into the extractive industry of our country,\u201d said president Mahama.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n He added that government is fully supportive of reviving not only VALCO but reviving the other key industries that \u201cour first president Dr Kwame Nkrumah left us.\u201d<\/p>\n
