The Gender Ministry has advised the general public to trust the Police to thoroughly investigate the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of the YFM presenter Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka in Takoradi.

[contextly_sidebar id=”xWbkRVD5qTRKgns4cAYAoLDjy4U3bDof”]The Ministry indicated that despite the news making rounds that the alleged act was staged and the photographs posted on social media were for “attention seeking purposes,” the public must wait for the Police report on the case.

“It is only the Police that can tell whether this was stage managed or not and we would all have to trust one source in this matter,” the Communication Advisor at the Gender Ministry, Abraham Asare said on Eyewitness News.

The YFM presenter, Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka, known in media circles as Ms Ada who was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted by 5men, is currently receiving treatment at the GHAPOHA hospital in Takoradi.

The Police told the media that it is yet to interrogate Ms Ada to ascertain what really happened but according to them this is not the first time the victim has reportedly been kidnapped.

They stated that so far, she has previously been kidnapped 5 times and the revelation has intensified rumours that her current situation could be untrue.

Mr. Asare said the incident may be a hoax but a direct link cannot be drawn between the current incident and her previous alleged abductions.

“We have little knowledge about what might have happened in the past and we are unable to link those ones to what has happened currently and so we are just addressing.”

He argued that all what Ghanaians can do is to trust that the “Police will be able to come out clearly to tell us what their findings are.”

“This is an alleged criminal case that has happened and it is only the Police people that we can only believe,” he added.

The Gender Ministry’s Communication Advisor mentioned that the Regional Director of Social Welfare has been directed to visit the victim and find out “how she is doing and of course, present a report to the Ministry in Accra.”
