A mass disconnection exercise carried out by the Ghana Water Company Limited(GWCL) last Friday forced the\u00a0residents of the Kumasi Children Home to the use of sachets of water.<\/p>\n
The children in home were also forced to go to bed without bathing.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”LaEeBNqoB5o3F5iWutPrVr2Nv4azNhxh”]Authorities at the orphanage\u00a0confirmed\u00a0that they have not had water \u00a0since the GWCL had disconnected the orphanage.<\/p>\n
One of the employees who spoke to a\u00a0local journalist in Kumasi, Eliasu Tanko said they find the situation worrying.<\/p>\n
“We have been working around kids and especially with babies and kids we need a lot of water to wash them down.We are not finding it easy at all in terms of bathing them ,feeding them, washing clothing and all that. It is quite terrible,” she stated.<\/p>\n
She said though the government is supposed to help the orphanage in paying its bills for sometime now, they have stopped supporting them.<\/p>\n
GWCL cuts water supply to KNUST over GHC6m debt<\/strong><\/p>\n A similar situation hit the Kumasi University of Science and Technology(KNUST).<\/p>\n
