A youth group calling itself Behisung Youth Association of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region is threatening to secure a court injunction against the party\u2019s upcoming Parliamentary primaries in the region.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”oiGI4pgwlE3EF0w6MflqAf4gLiS0BCQS”]The group is unhappy about the conduct of some regional NPP executives who are attempting to prevent some Parliamentary hopefuls from joining the race.<\/p>\n
This comes at the back of alleged attempts by the Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu in connivance with the Savelugu constituency Chairman to prevent Mohammed Hafiz who resigned as the Savelugu constituency NPP Organizer from joining the Parliamentary race.<\/p>\n
Controversial Bugri Naabu in a rebuttal to the allegation in a Citi News interview claimed Mohammed Hafiz failed to appear before the Savelugu constituency NPP disciplinary committee for an alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n
This, according to him meant Mohammed Hafiz lacked the locus as a true blue NPP member to join the Parliamentary race.<\/p>\n
Mohammed Hafiz finally secured the Parliamentary nomination form at the NPP Northern Regional Secretariat when he was denied access to it at the Savelugu constituency office.<\/p>\n
Tension is gradually mounting the NPP\u2019s camp in the Northern Region over similar attempts.<\/p>\n
This needles situation according to the Behisung Youth Association of the NPP might cause the party\u2019s shocking defeat in 2016.<\/p>\n
The group\u2019s Secretary, Adam Amin in an exclusive Citi News interview declared the group\u2019s intention to drag the NPP leadership in the region to court if they don\u2019t rescind their decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have given the regional executives two weeks working ultimatum if they fail to actually respond positively to this particular demand definitely BEYASS as a group will have no option than to take the matter to court to ensure that an injunction is placed on the primaries.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEven if it means for us boycotting legally as far the impending Parliamentary primaries are concerned I think BEYASS is ready to do so and we have Lawyers who are really there to support us so far this our crusade is concerned and that is our position,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n
Adam Amin also bemoaned the deep cracks within the regional executives and called for a united front to execute the party\u2019s agenda 2016 which targets at winning 15 additional Parliamentary seats to the 10 already secured in the Northern Region.<\/p>\n
\u201cBEYASS is observing with deep concerned that the NPP as a party lack unity within the regional executive framework which is growing in geometrical progression of which if not high powered intervention will speak badly for the region come the 2016 general elections.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adam Amin stressed, \u201cThe leadership for that matter the operations of the northern regional executive committee led by Daniel Bugri Naabu to many party loyalists in recent times is nothing but an exhibition of division, arrogance, confusion, display of unilateralism and dual characteristic: this lackadaisical attitude according to majority of party faithful undermines the very authority vested in them as regional executive committee to amicably find antidotes to outstanding regional issues of concerned and paramount among these is the issue of sustainable and well defined regional secretariat for the party in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
