The National Communications Authority (NCA) says it has rectified the January 2015 voice and data market share figures after it turned out the figures published were incorrect.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”zg541g1Nu7h89P21Rh1mMnn7uOmMPY9d”]The figures which were published on the NCA’s website placed Glo ahead of the other networks in data subscription for the month of January.<\/p>\n

It also placed Expresso ahead of all the other networks in voice subscription in the month of January.<\/p>\n

Prior to the rectification figures from NCA Glo suggested that Glo gained 1.44 million new data customers, from 668,424 in December 2014 to 2,091,600 in January 2015 while Expresso’s voice subscription also increased by 155,491 from 119,059 to 274,550.<\/p>\n

Other telcos like Vodafone and Airtel also saw a drop in their market share due to the anomaly.<\/p>\n

NCA in the case of Vodafone had indicated that the subscriber base increased to 7,177,032 at the end of January as compared to December\u2019s figure of 7,069,516.<\/p>\n

However, in quoting the market share, the regulator presented a drop from 23.29% in December 2014 to 21.97% in January.<\/p>\n

But the NCA reacting to the error said it noticed that in the course of publishing the January 2015 Voice and Data Market Statistics, incorrect data was inadvertently published.<\/p>\n

It adds that the error was swiftly rectified and the correct information was published on the NCA\u2019s website last week Thursday.<\/p>\n
