Barring any last minute technical challenge, the first unit of the Kpone Thermal Power Plant (KTPP) will be inaugurated by June 2015 to add 110 megawatts to Ghana’s power grid network.

[contextly_sidebar id=”5RZTFOmedr7NqYKSfKdnLTem5s6o9CpX”]The project manager of the power plant, Francis Agbenyo revealed this to Citi News.

He said the plant had experienced some setbacks due to funding saying “he issue of funding right from the beginning was a challenge because we were funding the project directly from our own internally generated fund.”

“We got some assistance from the banks in the form of bridge finance. That has also been helping us to pay the bills but currently we have some money and we are working with the contractor to bring at least the first unit on board somewhere in June. KTPP is on course to be commissioned debarring any major malfunction of any part,” said Francis Agbenyo.
