{"id":105068,"date":"2015-04-04T12:01:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-04T12:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=105068"},"modified":"2015-04-04T12:01:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-04T12:01:00","slug":"ngo-to-support-west-mamprusi-district-assembly-empower-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/04\/ngo-to-support-west-mamprusi-district-assembly-empower-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"NGO to support West Mamprusi District Assembly empower residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Non Governmental Organization called Pumping is Life Ghana plans to support the West Mamprusi District \u00a0Assembly in the Northern Region with about GHC108, 000.00 to improve the livelihood of people living in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The amount would be spent on water, sanitation and school gardening under a project called \u201cNabari Cluster of Communities Empowerment Project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The objective of the project is increase access to potable water in the district by 45% in 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Executive Director of Pumping is Life in Ghana, Yussif Abdul Rahman, his organization is alarmed by water inadequacy, insanitary conditions and malnutrition in the area, hence the move to fix the problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said the project would be executed in collaboration with the West Mamprusi District Assembly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe project was designed in response to assessment needs report in May 2013 and it is expected to benefit about 22,450 inhabitants in the West Mamprusi District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yussif Abdul Rahman explained that the school gardening component of the project would support the School Feeding Programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe project intends to contribute between 40 to 50% food ingredients to the School Feeding Program in six selected schools by December 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">District Chief Executive for west Mamprusi, David Wuni thanked the NGO for complementing the assembly\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He admitted that access to water remained the district\u2019s major problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WALEWALE-WATER-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-105069\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WALEWALE-WATER-3.jpg\" alt=\"WALEWALE WATER 3\" width=\"768\" height=\"514\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WALEWALE-WATER-3.jpg 768w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/WALEWALE-WATER-3-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Wuni revealed that majority of people living in the area depended on erratic rains for water.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He invited other NGO\u2019s and civil society organizations to partner with the assembly to provide basic needs to the people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">David Wuni bemoaned deep divisions among the people on political lines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He thereby called for political co-existence to move the area forward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further called for early reimbursement of caterers working under the School Feeding Programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Non Governmental Organization called Pumping is Life Ghana plans to support the West Mamprusi District \u00a0Assembly in the Northern Region with about GHC108, 000.00 to improve the livelihood of people living in the area.
