{"id":105063,"date":"2015-04-04T11:57:26","date_gmt":"2015-04-04T11:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=105063"},"modified":"2015-04-04T11:57:26","modified_gmt":"2015-04-04T11:57:26","slug":"nursing-students-unhappy-about-unpaid-allowances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/04\/nursing-students-unhappy-about-unpaid-allowances\/","title":{"rendered":"Nursing students unhappy about unpaid allowances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over 400 students of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Sekondi in the Western Region say they are unhappy about the delay in the payment of their allowances which has been in arrears for seven months.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;7u8WPvn5EU6vJrJXsdjbo5eGTwJo5Ykg&#8221;]Although their colleagues in other schools have been paid, the students are upset they have been denied their due.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A student of the school who spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> on condition of anonymity appealed to government to pay the arrears owed them.<\/p>\n<p>He said after realizing their allowances were not coming, he informed the principal about it and ever since then, their issue have not been rectified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the Principal of the school, Agatha Ekuban told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the administration of the school is working with the Controller and Accountant General Department to address their concern.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s a policy from the ministry of health that if students complete their period of training, their allowances are supposed to go off, so after the completion their allowances went off,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The prinicipal also added that \u201cat some point in time, they came to me reporting that some of their colleagues elsewhere have started receiving their allowances so we made an effort to present their list and then we went to the ministry of health so that they can get their allowance but unfortunately for them they couldn\u2019t receive it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She however assured that \u201c are working on it so that they can also get their allowance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey Akweiteh\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over 400 students of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Sekondi in the Western Region say they are unhappy about the delay in the payment of their allowances which has been in arrears for seven months.
