Ex-President John Agyekum Kufour and flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party are currently at the National Council meeting being held at the African Regent Hotel \u00a0in Accra.<\/p>\n

The meeting is aimed at reviewing the controversial affirmative action proposed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) ahead of their Parliamentary primaries<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”3UXzJbol1tOMsoGtU85qwgOuvaxakt9G”]The party\u2019s NEC among other things directed that only females must be allowed to contest in areas with sitting female Members of Parliament (MPs) and also only indigenous Gas should \u00a0be allowed to contest Ga traditional areas.<\/p>\n

The meeting by the National Council follows a series of agitations<\/strong><\/a><\/span> which met the announcement of the affirmative action.<\/p>\n

The NPP has subsequently postponed its Parliamentary primaries<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Earlier about \u00a0four women were seen around the area holding placards with inscriptions which portrays their displeasure of the directive.<\/p>\n
