One of the leading newspapers in Nigeria has reported that the presidential candidate of the opposition \u00a0All Progressive Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari \u00a0has won\u00a0Saturday\u2019s presidential elections.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made on the paper’s website on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”VloUqrv5sg8VOa181kzsLWPxnZsBuAzW”]According to the paper \u00a0\u201cwith the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcing collated\u00a0 results for the presidential election from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, and having analysed the state and local government areas’ results in the possession of THISDAY reporters from around the country, The Board of Editors of THISDAY calls this presidential elections in favour of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.\u201d<\/p>\n
It also added that \u201cTHISDAY Newspapers can comfortably project that Buhari has won the 2015 presidential election.\u201d<\/p>\n
Per the papers calculation, both Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan\u00a0 have satisfied the constitutionally required 1\/3 in 24 states, but General Buhari’s\u00a0 current\u00a0 lead in valid vote cast is unassailable.<\/p>\n
The announcement led to a confrontation between an agent of the People\u2019s Democractic Party (PDP)\u00a0 and the Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Attahiru Jega\u00a0 at the beginning ot the collation of results on Monday.<\/p>\n
The Minister Godsday Orubebe accused Jega of being partial which he denied.<\/p>\n
The collation is still underway at the INEC offices.<\/p>\n
