{"id":103061,"date":"2015-03-27T13:40:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=103061"},"modified":"2015-03-27T15:09:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-27T15:09:50","slug":"pnc-to-elect-flagbearer-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/03\/pnc-to-elect-flagbearer-in-august\/","title":{"rendered":"PNC to elect flagbearer in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The leadership of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) has settled on August 2015 to go to congress to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;phxnRDSp4XwyW8p0AeOcjhKq4jqk1sjq&#8221;]The party will simultaneously elect new national officers who will run the affairs of the PNC for the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>The national congress has been scheduled to take place from August 14 to 16.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was arrived at after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The National Youth Organizer of the PNC, Abu Ramadan, confirmed to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> the decision of the party\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that the proposed venue for the national congress is the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n<p>Abu Ramadan also disclosed to <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that persons seeking to lead the party into the 2016 election are required to pay a filing fee of GHC 10,000.<\/p>\n<p>National chairman aspirants are to pay GHC 5,000 while vice chairmen will pay a filing fee of GHC 2,000.<\/p>\n<p>The general secretary aspirants will be made to pay GHC 3,000 and \u201cother positions will also pay similar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The only two parties which have elected new national executives to a four-year term are the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the main opposition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n<p>The Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) has however elected constituency and regional executives.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the NPP is the only party with <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2014\/10\/18\/nana-addo-is-npp-flagbearer-again\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>an elected 2016 flagbearer<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>in the person of Nana Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/osamidan\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @osamidan<\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The leadership of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) has settled on August 2015 to go to congress to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 general elections.
