\"GDA_logo\"<\/a>The National Diabetes Association of Ghana (GDA) says lack of diabetic educators in the country is the cause for high incidence of fatalities among diabetic patients.<\/p>\n

They are therefore calling for a concerted effort from all stakeholders to ensure that enough trainers are available.<\/p>\n

The president of the association, Elizabeth Esi Denyo spoke to Citi News after the launch of the Merck Capacity Advance Program in Accra.<\/p>\n

The Merck Capacity Advance Program is a partnership between Merck, University of Ghana, Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, Ghana Medical Association and the Ghana National Association of Diabetes.<\/p>\n

The program is aimed at increasing education on diabetes prevention and prevention.<\/p>\n

According to Madam Denyo, there are about four million people living with diabetes in Ghana but the country lacks diabetic educators \u201cas a nation, we can\u2019t even boast of 20 qualified diabetic educators so this programme is very welcomed so that we can train more educators.\u201d<\/p>\n

She mentioned that diabetes is a specialty therefore, it is imperative that people are trained to cater for the diabetic needs of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
