The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that it\u2019s sitting female Members of Parliament (MPs) will not be contested by male MPs in the party\u2019s upcoming parliamentary primaries.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”mXsOtAnqCJC4lO3k1xgoAvCoqEV7vxFu”]According to the leadership of the NPP, only female aspirants will be allowed to\u00a0contest \u00a0the sitting female MPs.<\/p>\n

They explained that the directive is to ensure that their 17 female parliamentarians are maintained in Parliament.<\/p>\n

General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyepong confirmed this to Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Date for parliamentary primaries<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0date for the NPP’s parliamentary primaries\u00a0has been set for May 24, 2015<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Nominations for the primaries will be opened on March 30 2015.<\/p>\n

The date for vetting will be on\u00a0April 17 and the results of the vetting will be released on 20th and 30th April.<\/p>\n

In a related development, the NPP has further directed that some constituencies in the Ga communities including Ngleshie Amanfrom, Ledzekuku Krowor, Odododiodoo will have only Ga indigenes contesting\u00a0those areas.<\/p>\n
