The national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have agreed to hold its Parliamentary primaries on May 24, 2015.<\/p>\n

Nominations for the party’s primaries will be opened on March 30 2015.<\/p>\n

The date for vetting has been set for April 17 and the results of the vetting will be released on 20th and 30th April.<\/p>\n

Elections will then be held on May 24.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile all aspirants will pay GHC10,000 each as filing fees in the various constituencies.<\/p>\n

However young aspirants and female aspirants will pay GHC5,000.<\/p>\n

Major changes at the primaries<\/strong><\/p>\n

Only female aspirants will be allowed to contest sitting female Members of Parliament.<\/p>\n

According to the NPP, the move is expected to help the party to at least, maintain the 17 NPP female MPs in Parliament.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile some constituencies in the Ga communities including Ngleshie Amanfrom, Ledzekuku Krowor, Odododiodoo constituencies will have only indigenous Gas contesting in those areas.<\/p>\n

This was confirmed to Citi News by the party’s General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.<\/p>\n

All new aspirants will be made to pay GHC20,000 as development fees but sitting MPs will not pay that amount.<\/p>\n

The party explained that the sitting MPs have already contributed to the development and sustenance of the party in many ways during the tenure, hence their exclusion.<\/p>\n
