The National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth in Ahanta West in the Western Region are demanding the immediate reinstatement of their sacked District Chief Executive (DCE), Joseph Dofoyena.

[contextly_sidebar id=”SXTo7M80wrPu3FYIj5rh4YpZMfZNtffT”]Joseph Dofoyena was sacked by the President in February this year.

His dismissal was followed by threats by some NDC youth that they will withdraw their support for the party if he was not reinstated

The chiefs in the area subsequently appealed to the President to rescind his decision due to the considerable development he brought to the area during his two years stay in office.

In the latter part of 2014, there were media reports of bad blood between the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, George Kwame Aboagye and the sacked DCE, Joseph Dofoyena.

A Daily Guide publication on October 17, 2014 reported that the MP allegedly wrote to the President to replace the DCE over poor performance.

A development is said to have angered the NDC youth in the area who took to local radio stations to vent their anger.

Speaking to Citi News, the Ahanta West NDC Director of Elections, Eric King Arthur said President John Mahama may lose votes in the district in the 2016 election if the DCE is not re-instated.

He defended Mr. Dofoyena saying, “the sacked DCE has a very good record and he is the perfect representation of the President in the District.”

He was certain that if he is reinstated, his personality “will attract votes for the President because he is liked by the people.”

“If you take such a person from office, of course during voting, it will also affect the President,” he said.

King Arthur remarked that “now if you come to Ahanta West, everybody is crying, everybody is crying. Nobody knows the single reason why he has been taken out of office, it’s not fair. We are all not happy. School, children, market women, everybody is not happy.”
