The demolition of illegal structures at Agblobloshie in Accra, specifically at an area popularly referred to as Sodom and Gomorrah, has entered its third day.<\/p>\n
The exercise is expected to last another day as city authorities vow to clear all illegal structures located at the said area.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile thousands of people have been rendered homeless due to the exercise.<\/p>\n
The Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander ACP Timothy Bonga told Citi News<\/strong> last Saturday that the exercise is expected to last for four days.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n He stated that the hundreds of police officers deployed at the demolishing site were to provide security for the operation to go on smoothly.<\/p>\n When Citi News<\/strong> visited the site yesterday afternoon, around 2pm, four bulldozers were on site busily pulling down the marked structures for demolition.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n So far, over a thousand structures have been demolished and as the exercise enters its third day, more structures are expected to be pulled down.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n When Citi News<\/strong> spoke to some of the affected residents, they expressed their anger at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA for not given them prior notice before invading their \u201chomes.\u201d<\/p>\n
