{"id":101066,"date":"2015-03-09T09:49:48","date_gmt":"2015-03-09T09:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=97585"},"modified":"2015-03-09T09:49:48","modified_gmt":"2015-03-09T09:49:48","slug":"naspa-congress-turns-chaotic-as-delegates-protest-imposition-of-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/03\/naspa-congress-turns-chaotic-as-delegates-protest-imposition-of-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"NASPA Congress turns chaotic as delegates protest imposition of leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A two-day congress of National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) to elect their national executives came to an abrupt halt as delegates were chased out of the congress grounds for failing to accept the favorite candidates of the National Service Scheme Management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ioswUs5F7DW88H5Y5CN9dUDGD5otgEXZ&#8221;]The disgruntled national service personnel accused management of the service and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for eliminating competent candidates and imposing on them candidates to serve their parochial interest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They said although the sidelined candidates had met all the criteria outlined by in their constitution, some strong forces working behind the scenes to push their favorites through.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The action according to the National President of NASPA, Ekow Vincent, is an affront to the democracy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/naspa-congress-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-97587\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/naspa-congress-3.jpg\" alt=\"naspa congress (3)\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking at the venue in Ho, Ekow Vincent said the Executive Director of NSS, Dr. Kpessa Whyte together with some NDC party functionaries brought a new list of candidates which excluded most of the candidates approved by the association\u2019s vetting committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The imposition according to the president did not go down well with delegates as they questioned the source of the list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The executive director has acted in bad faith; I never thought he could that. If that is what he going to do, then he will not take long on the national service seat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;He is supposed to be a father; he supposed to create a congenial atmosphere for the youth of this country to jaw jaw, dialogue bring out their leaders and make decisions for themselves.
