A helicopter carrying some consignment of gold from the Obuasi Mine of Anglogold Ashanti to Accra crash landed at Esuofua, a remote village near Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”IhbFc8sKkEAvB5QHFrrmVrm10QUEV1SD”]Fortunately, the helicopter did not explode, and according to the Birim Central Municipal Fire Officer, Mr Daniel Allotey, there were no serious casualties.<\/p>\n
Three people, including the pilot were said be on board.<\/p>\n
The helicopter crashed in a thick forest at Esuofua near Asuboi and it was difficult for fire officers and police from the Eastern region to travel to the destination.<\/p>\n
Mr Allotey told Graphiconline’s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Naa Lamiley Bentil that his office received a call from the police at about 2:00 pm.<\/p>\n
Following that call, a joint team of police and fire service personnel were dispatched to the scene.<\/p>\n
“We searched the bush for about 20 minutes before locating the damaged helicopter,” he said<\/p>\n
Mr Allotey, further explained that the pilot had earlier called Anglogold and another helicopter had carried the three and the consignment to Accra before they got to the scene.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
