According to President Akufo-Addo, out of this amount, “we are spending $1.2 million – i.e. GHc5 million, for the rehabilitation of the water system of Nalerigu, $1.1 million for rehabilitation of the water system for Gambaga, and $1.3 for the rehabilitation of the water system at Walewale. All of these works will begin before the end of this year.”

President Akufo-Addo made this known on Friday, when he paid a courtesy call on the overlord of Mamprugu land, the Nayiri, Naa Bohogu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, at the commencement of his 3-day tour of the Northern Region.

On the extension of electricity, President Akufo-Addo bemoaned the fact that the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions have the least coverage of electricity in Ghana.

“My government is determined to rectify that. Between this year and next year, 447 communities are going to have electricity extended to them in the Northern Region, and this includes communities in East Mamprusi.”

Whilst assuring them of the construction of 5 major roads in Mamprugu land, President Akufo-Addo also indicated that, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, MP, is determined to continue the reform of local government in the country, to take into account developments of population and the economy.

“She has decided that she is going to re-designate 6 districts as municipalities. East Mamprusi and West Mamprusi are going to be Municipalities, and no longer districts. Two new districts are also going to be created in the Northern Region – Nanton and Yunyoo,” he said.

Touching on the issues of Dagbon and Bimbilla, President Akufo-Addo told the Nayiri that “as the eldest son of Naa Gbewaa, you have a particular responsibility in the matter.”

The President, thus, appealed to the Nayiri, as one of the three eminent Chiefs – Otumfuo Asantehene, the Yagbonwura and yourself – who are working on bringing lasting peace to Dagbon, “to intensify your efforts and work even harder to make sure that, at this year’s Damba Festival, in Yendi, we will have a new Ya Naa presiding over the festival.”

He reiterated the commitment of his government to “give maximum support for whatever formula and efforts the three eminent Chiefs, of which you are one, bring about to resolve the issue in Dagbon. We will give you full support to make sure that the negotiations and understandings come to a fruitful conclusion.”

President Akufo-Addo, in concluding, appealed for the support of all Ghanaians, as he works to put the country onto the path of progress and prosperity.

“I need the support of all of you, whether you voted for me or did not, whether you have supported my party or have not supported my party. In the period of my mandate, I will need your support so that together we can rebuild Ghana and let the Black Star shine and shine again.”

The video, which was leaked to US celebrity website TMZ, showed Solange lashing out at Jay Z in a lift after the Met Gala on 5 May.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred,” said a joint statement.

“They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

The hotel employee who leaked the footage has been identified and dismissed, it emerged on Thursday.

New York’s Standard Hotel said it was “shocked and disappointed” by the leak and said it would it would hand over “all available information to criminal authorities”.

The employee was dismissed for “breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video,” it added.

The three-minute video shows Solange – herself an R&B singer – enter the lift with Jay Z, Beyonce and their entourage.

She then confronts the rapper, whose wife stands by without interfering.

A bodyguard holds Solange back, although she again tries to kick Jay Z. There is no audio on the recording.

The full statement was released by the family to the Associated Press.

It reads: “As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident.

“But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.

“They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.

“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behaviour throughout that evening are simply false.

“At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Beyoncé’s sister Solange lashed out at Jay-Z in an astonishing elevator attack after the music mogul said he was attending Rihanna’s Met Ball after-party without his wife, it has been reported.

According to the New York Daily News, the blazing row was actually sparked by Jay-Z, who snapped at Solange when two of her friends tried to use his name to get into the starry after-party at The Standard hotel in Manhattan following the gala last week.

And it was when Solange demanded they leave that Jay-Z said he was heading off to Rihanna’s bash without Beyoncé’, prompting Solange to hit out at him.

A source said Solange’s pals ‘wouldn’t leave and kept name dropping Jay Z. They were pretending they were guests of his and not hers. Management went to Julius (Beyonce’s bodyguard) and said there’s a problem.’

Jay-Z soon got wind of it and snapped at Solange, saying ‘don’t use my name’. This in turn prompted Solange to insist that she wanted to leave the bash.

On the way out, Jay-Z said he’d be heading to Up & Down on West 14th Street, where Rihanna was holding her own post-Met Ball bash, a second source said.

Allegedly, the star said he didn’t need extra security because Beyoncé was not joining him.

The source said Solange, who seemed ‘drunk and irritated’, said: ‘Why can’t you go home?’ telling Beyonce ‘Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?'”

But Jay-Z replied: ‘You’re one to talk’, which sent Solange into a rage.Once inside the elevator, she started punching and kicking her brother-in-law – an attack that was caught on surveillance video and leaked to TMZ.com on Monday.

Ultimately, the rapper decided against going to Rihanna’s party and he was seen getting into a separate car as Beyoncé and Solange left together.

Jay-Z and Rihanna are longtime cohorts. While president of Def Jam, he signed the Barbados beauty in 2004 and just days ago she signed to his label Roc Nation.She is also managed by Roc Nation.

Reps for Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Solange did not return requests for comment.

MailOnline told how Jay-Z has reneged on repeated promises to help boost Solange boost music career, according to sources.

And a family friend today revealed the simmering tensions that has led to the family feud, saying: ‘He hasn’t kept his promise to help her. Jay keeps telling her to give him some time and he will sit down and write with her and then get her into the studio but he hasn’t done it yet.’

The source added: ‘Solange’s album is coming out soon but there is no buzz about it, which is a bad sign within the industry.

‘Solange wants a major career like her sister and she’s tired of living in her shadow. She’s jealous.

UsWeekly has reported that Solange first lost her temper with fashion designer Rachel Roy, a close friend of Kim Kardashian.

The publication claims that Solange ‘yelled’ at Rachel – who recently attended Kim’s baby shower – on the night of the Met Gala after-party.

Beyonce is believed to have got in the middle of an argument between the pair, although it is unclear what it had stemmed from.

It was also reported that Solange was seen arguing with a number of other people at the bash.

Rachel is considered to be one of Kim Kardashian’s closest confidantes and was even invited to Kanye’s proposal to Kim last year.

On damning video footage, Solange can be clearly be seen kicking and swinging violently at Jay-Z, the father of her two-year-old niece, Blue Ivy, after entering an elevator with her sister and her husband.

The clip shows a man who appears to be a bodyguard holding her back, but Solange still manages to rain blows on Jay-Z several times.

The bodyguard can also be seen pushing the emergency stop button in the elevator at the 12th floor, no doubt to stop the fight spilling out in front of photographers.

During the frenzied altercation, Jay-Z grabs Solange’s stiletto clad foot to block a kick but never attempts to retaliate.

Beyonce seems sanguine throughout, and appears to be trying to calm her sister down.. . at one point she pragmatically removes the long train of her Givenchy Haute Couture dress from the fray.

Jay-Z’s shocked appearance and hand to face as Solange marches angrily ahead after leaving the elevator were captured on film, however.

Beyonce tried to muster a showbiz smile as the threesome left but then tellingly departed with her sister in a car while her husband left separately.

While there has been no detail emerging on what Rachel and Solange were disputing, Kim has had her fair share of reported feuds with Solange’s sister Beyonce.

Solange accompanied designer Rachel to the 2012 Met Gala, and Rachel’s ex-husband Damon Dash has endured a long-running feud with Jay-Z, his former business partner.

It’s not yet known what provoked the fight, however, the famous couple looked as happy as ever as they attended another Brooklyn Nets game on Saturday while Solange played a gig in New York.

According to Us Magazine, the trio seemed fine together, although Jay-Z sat by a firepit while Beyonce and Solange – clad in her peach Phillip Lim dress – danced with Naomi Campbell.

They did, however, leave ‘abruptly’ the magazine reports. Both women seemed merry but weren’t pictured holding alcohol.

According to Us Weekly, Kelly’s wedding took place on Friday and was a ‘quick, simple ceremony – only around 30 people’.

On Thursday, three days after the attack in an elevator at The Standard hotel in New York, Beyoncé and Solange arrived in Costa Rica onboard a private plane around 7:56pm, according to E!.

It comes after it was reported in local paper La Nación that their mother Tina Knowles, Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams and Kelly’s fiance Tim Witherspoon were also in Costa Rica, suggesting it was for Kelly and Tim’s nuptials, which has now been confirmed by UsWeekly.

Beyonce added further fuel to the fire by posting a picture on her Instagram, looking as though she was dressed in a bridesmaid outfit.

The footage appears to show Solange trying to kick and hit Jay Z in front of Beyonce. A security guard is then seen restraining her.

It’s thought the incident happened after the three had attended the Met Gala Ball last week in New York and a party at the hotel afterwards.

The hotel added: “We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”

The Standard, High Line, is an 18-storey boutique hotel located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

The chain also has hotels in Los Angeles and Miami Beach, Florida.

Newsbeat has contacted Jay Z’s management but so far no-one has returned the emails.

Solange is Beyonce’s younger sister and is a singer-songwriter in her own right.

The 27-year-old recently performed at Coachella music festival in the US, where Beyonce joined her on stage for a surprise guest appearance.

Jay Z, 44, and Beyonce, 32, married in 2008.
