The malware has affected systems at three Russian websites, an airport in Ukraine and an underground railway in the capital city, Kiev.

The cyber-police chief in Ukraine confirmed to the Reuters news agency that Bad Rabbit was the ransomware in question.
It bears similarities to the WannaCry and Petya outbreaks earlier this year.

However, it is not yet known how far this new malware will be able to spread.

“In some of the companies, the work has been completely paralysed – servers and workstations are encrypted,” head of Russian cyber-security firm Group-IB, Ilya Sachkov, told the TASS news agency.

Two of the affected sites are Interfax and Fontanka.ru.
Meanwhile, US officials said they had “received multiple reports of Bad Rabbit ransomware infections in many countries around the world”.

The US computer emergency readiness team said it “discourages individuals and organisations from paying the ransom, as this does not guarantee that access will be restored”.

Russia hit most
“According to our data, most of the victims targeted by these attacks are located in Russia,” said Vyacheslav Zakorzhevsky at Kaspersky Lab.

“We have also seen similar but fewer attacks in Ukraine, Turkey and Germany.”

Bad Rabbit encrypts the contents of a computer and asks for a payment – in this case 0.05 bitcoins, or about $280 (£213).

Cyber-security firms, including Russia-based Kaspersky, have said they are monitoring the attack.

The malware is still undetected by the majority of anti-virus programs, according to analysis by virus checking site Virus Total.

One security firm, Eset, has said that the malware was distributed via a bogus Adobe Flash update.

Researcher Kevin Beaumont has posted a screenshot that shows Bad Rabbit creating tasks in Windows named after the dragons Drogon and Rhaegal in TV series Game of Thrones.

The outbreak bears similarities to the WannaCry and Petya ransomware outbreaks that spread around the world causing widespread disruption earlier this year.

“I am not looking forward to marriage because I do not want to feel dedicated to anyone. I want to be my own woman and infact, I am enjoying being a single parent,” she told Showing in an interview last Monday.

“I have no problem being in a relationship; infact, I am currently dating but marriage is a no go area for me. I am a hard working woman with three kids and all this while, I have been doing everything on my own so I don’t see the reason why I would allow myself to be pinned down all in the name of love and marriage. I want to be a free bird,” she said.

In an answer to why she had reached that decision she said, “it is simple, I do not want any one to disturb mv peace. You know as soon as you get married, it’s like there are some rules that you need to follow and I am not ready to abide by those rules.

“I nearly got married this year but I declined after thinking through and realising that marriage was not meant for me. I don’t want to feel obliged to cook or do certain things for any man. With my current single mother status, as and when I feel like doing something, I do it and so far I love it”

Mzbel’s children, her own son and two adopted others, she said, were also part of her decision. If I get married, my children will not get the best of me as I will have to divide my attention. My children need me more and I would like to dedicate the rest of my life to them so that they do not have to share me with anyone,” she said.

“Moreover, I have seen how terrible some marriages end, some to the extent of the woman committing suicide and knowing how fragile I am, I do not want to find myself in any of such situations. The bottom line is, I am an independent woman and getting married will spoil things. I am happy the way I am,” she stated.

In response to what people may think of her decision, she said, “I don’t care what people are going to say, I have listened to people on several occasions and it did not help me so I have decided to turn a deaf ear to what they will say. I have reached a point where what matters to me is how I feel and I am focusing on doing what will make me happy.”

Commenting on her seemingly stalled music career, Mzbel attributed her delay in bouncing back soon after delivering her baby to motherhood saying that it had been very difficult combing that with her music career.

“I have not been out yet because I am taking care of my son. I have nobody helping and it makes it difficult for me to go to the studio and record want to get everything right before 1 come out but I hope to come out very soon.”

Mzbel told Showbiz that her fans should still keep their fingers crossed and watch out for the new Mzbel with swag. “I have not forgotten my fans, I love them and I thank God for their lives. I am putting certain things in place and when I’m done, I will release my singles prolly before the end of this year.”
