There are not enough NHS psychiatrists in some parts of the UK and more should be recruited to improve care, says the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

In Scotland, there are 10 consultant psychiatrists per 100,000 people – but only eight for the same number in England and Northern Ireland, and just six in Wales.

London’s tally is more than double that of the east of England.

English health ministers said thousands of new posts were already planned.

The government in England recently announced there would be 570 extra consultant psychiatrists by 2020-21.

And the Welsh government said it was committed to improving mental health services in Wales.

But the Royal College of Psychiatrists said there were too few medical students specialising in psychiatry and not enough psychiatrists becoming consultants.

In England, in the past five years, it said there had been a 1.7% increase in psychiatry consultants compared with a 20.2% increase in other consultants across the NHS.

Areas such as London and the north-east of England have more than 11 psychiatrists per 100,000 people but the south-west has six and Yorkshire five.

‘Falling short’

Prof Wendy Burn, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, said: “People with a severe mental illness should expect to see a specialist consultant, just as you would for a severe physical illness.

“The huge variation in consultant psychiatrists across the country means reality is increasingly falling short of our expectations.

“As highly skilled medics, psychiatrists must be able to spot the nuance in symptoms, ask the right questions, and understand what the problem is.

“Without psychiatrists to lead specialist mental health teams we cannot deliver the high-quality care that our patients deserve.”

Health ministers in England said: “We want people with mental health conditions to receive better treatment and that means having the right NHS staff.

“We have started one of the biggest expansions of mental health services in Europe with our ambition to create 21,000 new posts by 2021 by supporting those already in the profession to stay and giving incentives to those considering a career in mental health.”

A Welsh government spokesperson said it recognised there was a recruitment challenge in psychiatry in the UK.

“We are committed to the continuous improvement of access to mental health services in Wales.”

A woman from Atlanta has sparked outrage on social media after publicly announcing that she quit her job to breastfeed her 36-year-old bodybuilder boyfriend.

Speaking to The Sun, Jennifer Mulford claimed she wanted to start an ‘Adult Breastfeeding Relationship’ with her partner Brad Leeson after reading about the bond breastfeeding could create between two people.

Jennifer admitted to using dating sites and Craigslist to try and find a partner open to the practice, but eventually mentioned the idea to her former childhood sweetheart, Brad.

‘It was like a light switched flicked in his head. I could tell from his voice that he was curious and excited,’ she said, before opening up about the first time the pair tried it.

‘At that moment I knew that I had a partner for life… we both wanted the same thing out of the relationship – a magical bond that only breastfeeding can achieve.’

Jennifer, whose own daughter is now 20, has to ‘dry’ breastfeed Brad every two hours to induce lactation and fool her body into thinking she has had a baby.

‘I’ve taken a break from my job because I want to devote everything to making this work,’ she said, adding that she often uses a pump or her hand during the night.

'It's more of a personal bond, it's more of a commitment, more of an intimacy... two people becoming one': Jennifer said the feeding led to sex 'six out of seven times'

She claims she is also taking a herbal pill and added flax seeds to her diet which are thought to help with milk supply.

Brad is said to be ‘excited’ about the health benefits as he is a ‘gym buff’.

Jennifer said the feeding also helps Brad to let his ‘guard down’ behind closed doors and not have to worry about being an ‘alpha male.’

She also said it’s not something they would ever do in public as it is a ‘very private’ aspect of their lives.

But despite this, Jennifer and Brad’s decision to publicly share their story has been slammed on social media, with many claiming the story is false, and others accusing Jennifer of ‘sexualising’ breastfeeding.

‘It’s idiots like these two that are making it difficult for breastfeeding mothers to do so publicly without shame or ridicule. They are only increasing the sexualisation of breastfeeding. There are NO medical benefits for adults to consume breast milk. Breast milk is for babies,’ one woman wrote on Facebook.

‘Each to their own but this is disgusting! People look at me funny when I say I am breastfeeding a two year old! And then people like this completely tarnishes the breastfeeding name!! Its NOT sexual. Its to nourish a baby!’ Another agreed.

‘I don’t believe this, it sounds like an April Fool’s joke. There’s nothing about this that is okay,’ one wrote.

Jennifer has posted a picture of the pair of them on her Facebook page, but whether or not the couple are joking around for a reaction or simply opening up about their private life remains to be seen.

A murderess who took a selfie with the dead body of her father-in-law after she stabbed him to death has explained the sickening move, saying: ‘It was just something that made me really happy’.

Amanda Taylor murdered Charles Taylor in April 2015, by stabbing him repeatedly at his home in Ellett, Virginia.

She was sentenced to life in prison for the gruesome attack which she carried out after her husband Rex took his own life in August 2014.

Amanda, a 26-year-old mother-of-two, showed no remorse as she was jailed.

Two years on, she is still unrepentant, telling Crime Watch Daily via a phone interview from the prison: ‘I have absolutely no remorse for what I did to Charlie Taylor at all. I did exactly what I wanted to do.’

Amanda maintains that she killed her father-in-law in revenge for her husband’s suicide which she blames on him.

‘I just wanted him to feel the pain I felt. That’s the most alive I’ve felt since Rex died,’ she said.

On April 4, she attacked the 59-year-old in his home with a bayonet-style knife.

Describing the killing during the prison phone interview, she said: ‘I was very happy, I was very happy just to finally get all that built-up hate and anger and all those feelings out on him.

‘When I stabbed him I didn’t see anything and he just looked at me and he was like “what are you doing?” and as I was stabbing him, he had reached up and got my hair.

‘I continued to stab him but he kept yelling and it made me nervous so Sean took the crowbar, the tire iron or whatever, and hit him in the back of the head.’

‘Sean’ is Sean Ball, her accomplice who she later turned on while on the run from police.

After murdering Charles, Amanda posed for a disturbing selfie with his body and the knife she used to slaughter him.

‘I was just really excited and I was like hey I’m gonna take a picture so I can post it and show everyone. It was just something that I, it made me really happy,’ she continued.

Despite having an obsession with murder, she said she was surprised by the overwhelming sense of freedom she felt after carrying out the killing.

‘It was very different than what I had in mind. It’s not what you see in the movies.

‘All the nerves and the feeling of like freedom and that’s how I felt,’ she said.

Amanda also revealed that she tried to contact ISIS before her arrest but that she never received a response.

She nonetheless insists she did not want to join the terror group with which she had a ‘weird obsession’.

‘I wasn’t trying to join ISIS. I wasn’t going to go blow anything up in the name of, you know. I had this weird obsession with it for a minute and I tried to reach out but obviously nothing happened from it,’ she said.

Crime Watch Daily also obtained a copy of one of the first police interviews she gave after being arrested.

During the interview, she described how she’d aimed for her father-in-law’s chest while stabbing him and revealed that she barely got any blood on her own clothes because the knife was so long.

Sean Ball was jailed last year for 60 years after admitting second-degree murder.

Rex Taylor hung himself in August 2014. He had been using drugs which his widow believes his father introduced him to as a teenager.

The EU has outlined its Brexit strategy, suggesting trade talks could begin after “sufficient progress” on a separation settlement with the UK.

The draft guidelines, announced by European Council President Donald Tusk in Malta, advocate a “phased approach”.

They will be sent to the 27 member states for approval and will set the tone for two years of negotiations.

In Brussels, the EU’s foreign policy chief suggested the EU could manage without the UK in defence matters.

The UK formally triggered the Brexit process on Wednesday after calling for simultaneous talks on exit terms and future trade ties.

At a news conference, Mr Tusk said: “Starting parallel talks on all issues at the same time as suggested by some in the UK will not happen.

“Only once we have achieved sufficient progress on the withdrawal can we discuss the framework for our future relationship.”

Talks would be “difficult, complex and sometimes even confrontational”, he predicted, but the EU would not “pursue a punitive approach”.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May formally triggered the Brexit process by sending the Article 50 notification letter to Mr Tusk on Wednesday.

The two are to meet in London ahead of an EU summit on Brexit, which will not include her, on 29 April.

So what’s the ‘divorce’ bill?

The draft says the EU’s overall objective is “to preserve its interests, those of its member states, its citizens and its businesses”.

Calling for a “phased approach giving priority to an orderly withdrawal”, it suggests starting with discussions on the separation arrangement. They could then move on to talks about a future trade relationship between the EU and the UK.

The draft raises the issue of the UK financial bills with the EU, estimated to be as much as €60bn (£51bn; $64bn).

In a sign of the bloc’s determination to secure a “divorce bill”, it says that a “single financial settlement should ensure that the Union and the United Kingdom both respect the obligations undertaken before the date of withdrawal”.

Westminster attacker Khalid Masood acted alone and there is no information to suggest further attacks are planned, Scotland Yard has said.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said: “There is a possibility we will never understand why he did this.”

Four people died and 50 were injured when Masood drove his car into pedestrians before stabbing a police officer. He was shot dead by police.

The family of PC Keith Palmer said his bravery would be remembered.

MP Tobias Ellwood, who was among those who tried to save PC Palmer’s life, has said he is “heartbroken” that his efforts were not successful.

Detectives confirmed the attack was over within 82 seconds.

Mr Basu said: “We still believe that Masood acted alone on the day and there is no information or intelligence to suggest there are further attacks planned.

“Even if he acted alone in the preparation, we need to establish with absolute clarity why he did these unspeakable acts to bring reassurance to Londoners, and to provide answers and closure for the families of those killed and the victims and survivors of this atrocity.

“Nevertheless, we are determined to understand if Masood was a lone actor inspired by terrorist propaganda or if others have encouraged, supported or directed him.”

Writing in two Sunday newspapers, both the home secretary Amber Rudd and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson called on social media companies like Google and Facebook to be “more proactive” in stamping out extremist websites.

In a statement released on Saturday, the family of PC Palmer addressed those who tried to save his life.

“There was nothing more you could have done,” it said.

“You did your best and we are just grateful he was not alone.

“We care about him being remembered for his selfless bravery and loving nature. We miss him so much, but we are also incredibly proud of Keith.”

The family said they had been “overwhelmed by the love and support” shown for them and for PC Palmer and they praised the support from the police.

In a statement, also released on Saturday, Mr Ellwood said: “I am heartbroken that I could not do more for PC Keith Palmer who gave his life in holding the line against terrorism and defending democracy.”

The Foreign Office minister said he was “deeply humbled and overwhelmed” by messages of support.

“I played only a small part that day, doing what I was taught to do, and am honoured to have been invited to join the Privy Council afterwards.” he said.

“It is right that we concentrate our thoughts on the victims as we stand side by side to protect all that we hold dear, including our precious values and way of life which will always prevail.”

Masood’s other victims were Aysha Frade, who was in her 40s and worked at a London sixth-form college, US tourist Kurt Cochran, 54, and retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75, from south London.

A 58-year-old man, who was arrested in Birmingham the morning after the attack under the Terrorism Act, remains in custody, and a 32-year-old woman who was arrested in Manchester, remains on police bail, Metropolitan Police have said.

Eleven people were initially arrested over the incident and nine people in total have been released without charge.

The Metropolitan Police said Masood, 52, who had previous criminal convictions but none for terrorism, had used a number of aliases.

At birth, he was registered in Dartford, Kent, as Adrian Elms, but later took his stepfather’s name becoming Adrian Ajao in childhood.

In the early 2000s, he was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm after slashing a man across the face with a knife in a pub.

Emma Watson is taking legal action after dozens of private images of her appeared online.

A spokesman for the Beauty and the Beast star confirmed the pictures – which show her trying on various outfits – were stolen.

“Photos from a clothes fitting Emma had with a stylist a couple of years ago have been stolen,” her publicist said.

“They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further.”

News of the theft comes a week after Watson sparked fierce debate over whether she was anti-feminist for exposing part of her breasts in a Vanity Fair photoshoot.

The actress was previously threatened in 2014 with a leak of nude images, after a speech she gave on gender equality as a UN Ambassador for Women.

Speaking at a Facebook event in 2015, she said: “I knew it was a hoax, I knew the pictures didn’t exist.

“The minute I stepped up and talked about women’s rights I was immediately threatened – within less than 12 hours I was receiving threats.”

Last month, a man in the US was jailed for nine months for hacking into the online accounts of celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, and stealing private information, including nude videos and photos.
