Both Cassper Nyovest and Stonebwoy made this announcement via posts on the social media handles.

“Made a smash hit last night,” Stonebwoy wrote on Facebook on Wednesday afternoon.

This comes few days after Cassper had publicly chosen Stonebwoy as his favourite dance hall artiste in Africa.

Asked on Starr FM whether he had heard of Ghanaian dance hall kingpin Shatta Wale, Nyovest answered: “he [Shatta Wale] is trouble. “I have read a lot about him…but I don’t know his music yet but everybody says it is lit,” he stated.

The South African artiste whose comment was not taken likely by Shatta Wale’s fans is in Ghana to explore the music industry and do collaborations with some Ghanaian musicians.

This is the second time Cassper and Stonebwoy are doing a joint project. The first, ‘Fever’ was released in 2015.

Nyovest is winner of multiple international awards and author of platinum albums.

His hard work and controversial nature has earned him global acclaim especially when he filled up big stadiums across South Africa with monumental concerts.

Speaking to Citi TV at the funeral of the late Ebony Reigns on Saturday, he said, as a victim of a car crash himself, he would admonish the citizenry to collectively help reduce the menace to the barest minimum.

“Unfortunately, she [Ebony] died in an accident. The same cause that kills almost thousands of people every year and a number of people every day. The same cause that leaves a number of people injured and deformed every time. I am an example of that; I’m an accident victim and I’m facing it till now,” he said.

When asked if he had planned on embarking on any campaign to help curb this problem, he said he was ready to use any means available to fight road accidents.

“Why not? Any form that we can advocate and educate the people about road safety, I am ready – and even as I speak now, it is gonna go far and you know we are all involved to make sure that we are all safe on our roads,” he added.

Stonebwoy was once involved in a car accident which claimed the life of his twin sibling. The accident rendered him disabled for a long period until he finally went through a successful surgery.

A few weeks ago, he donated an amount of GHc 5,000 and other items to patients at the accident ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Already, rapper Sarkodie has composed a song titled ‘Wakeup Call’ to raise awareness on road accidents on Ghanaian roads.

Other people in arts and showbiz have also added their voices to the call since Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng aka Ebony died in a gory motor accident on the Kumasi-Sunyani road in February.

Born in December, 2017, the baby was christened Catherine-Jiluda T. Satekla. She was named after Stonebwoy’s late mother, Catherine Satekla.

Stonebwoy and Louisa got married on June 16, 2017.

On Saturday, March 10, 2018, it was reported that Stonebwoy and his team were attacked by some officers from Zylofon Media who had gone to take a car purported to have been given him by the company.

According to Lawrence Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog who is the Artiste & Repertoire Manager of Zylofon Music, both parties had agreed that Stonebwoy handed over a Zylofon car in his possession at the Zylofon office by midday on Saturday but he did not do that.

Stonebwoy who had been to Champs Bar at the Paloma Hotel to support his protégé Kelvyn Boy at the Afrobeat Tour that recounted that while in a room at the hotel, he sent his brother to fetch him his clothes from his car when he heard noise from outside.

“They hit [my brother] on the lips, they took the car keys from him and they sat in the car…if not for my bodyguard, they would have driven my car away and that would have been something else,” he recounted.

He then fired gunshots to dispel the crowd so they could move the car.

Apparently, Bulldog and the Zylofon Media team who had earlier been to the University of Ghana where Stonebwoy had performed at the Hilla Limann Week Celebration, had followed up with some workers of  to the Champ Bar to take the car from him but Stonebwoy has stated that the car in question is his personal property and not what Zylofon gave to him.

Many have criticized the company for not using the right means to retrieve the supposed car even if they had agreed to take it.

In the wake of this, the company is reported to have fired its Transport Manager, Eric Amponsah.

In a recent tweet, Nana Appiah Mensah apologized to the artiste and his team, calling the act unfortunate.

“I apologize to team @stonebwoyb and all well-wishers for the unfortunate ill incident that occurred. The transport manager exercised a discretion characterized by reflex and over-exuberance. An act I vehemently condemn and discourage from our society,” he tweeted.

Stonebwoy was signed on to the Zylofon Music record label on 15th June, 2017.

According to him, he did that to defend himself of any gruesome attack that may have been launched on him.

When King Lagaze asked him on Hitz FM on Sunday of the reason behind what he did, he asked “have you heard of self-defence before?”

Stonebwoy on Saturday was reported to have been engaged in a scuffle with some officers of his record label, Zylofon Music, who had gone to the premises to take from him, a car purported to have been given to him by the company.

Report has it that Stonebwoy had earlier been to the University of Ghana to perform at the Artistes Night of the Hilla Limann Week Celebration. At the behest of Stonebwoy and his management, the organizers took off all Zylofon Media banners. This deepened speculations that the ‘My Name’ hit maker may have severed relationship with Zylofon Media.

Lawrence Nana Asiamah aka Bulldog who is the Artiste and Repertoire Manager for Zylofon Music went to the premise off the show and asked that the cars which were branded in Zylofon insignia were taken away, upon seeing how things branded with Zylofon tags were being disposed off.

By then, Stonebwoy had left for the Champs Bar at the Paloma Hotel where his protégé Kelvin Boy was performing.

Background to Stonebwoy and Zylofon Media ‘fight’

In June, 2017, Stonebwoy was signed on to Zylofon Music record label with an undisclosed contractual agreement.

Even though other musicians had been signed before and after Stonebwoy, theories have it that he may not have liked the idea of Zylofon Media signing his arch-rival Shatta Wale.

Shatta Wale’s signing was greeted with razzmatazz, pomp and pageantry – a situation that was unlike all the signings Zylofon Music had done in the past.

Even though Stonebwoy had congratulated Shatta Wale for joining the Zylofon family he also stated that he was not pre-informed by the management that they were bringing Shatta Wale on board.

In the interview King Lagaze had with him on Sunday evening, reggae presenter Skelly Dread sent a question to the host asking whether Stonebwoy would have signed onto Zylofon Music if they had already signed another dance hall artiste.He responded in the negative.

Even though Stonebwoy and Zylofon have not come out to announce anything pertaining to the abrogation of contract with Stonebwoy, it appears all is not well with the two parties and a possible break up is imminent.

This comes on the back of recent innuendos made by Shatta Wale about Stonebwoy’s Ghc 5,000 donation to the accident ward of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital. Stonebwoy went there without any reps from the record label.

He followed up with another post: “ Stonebwoy stop that silly thing ooo ibe so samini do weh a kill am lyrically .. this beef u deh try start u can’t WiN and you know from your dear heart ..I AM ZYLOFON ..are you ZYLOFON.. ? Answer me ..”

The personal manager of Stonebwoy, Black Sidi also took to social media to reply Shatta Wale in a similar fashion.

“Somebody Tell My Good Friend We Wont Mind Him…We Are Busy Rehearsing For SummerJam And Reggae Sumfest 2018. #BhimNationGlobal ” he wrote on Facebook.

Attempts to get parties involved to speak to the matter have not been successful.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah has asked fans of Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and his company to stay calm as they solve the problem.

“I urge all well wishers of@shattawalegh, @stonebwoyb and @ZylofonMedia to remain very calm. Whatever differences, as with all human institutions would be resolved in the most civil and decorous fashion. Ghana shall prosper.#zylofonmusic #Ghanamusic #Ghanawi,” he wrote on his social media platforms.

Earlier, Nana Appiah Mensah and Zylofon Media had unfollowed Stonebwoy on twitter.

Shatta Wale (real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah), is one of the biggest dance hall artiste in Ghana.

After stepping the threshold of the music industry in the early 2000’s, Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana) went on a hiatus until he bounced back in 2013 with ‘Dancehall King’ which won him the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.

He has since his comeback produced a lot of hit songs like ‘Kakai,’ ‘Mahama Paper,’ ‘Ayoo,’ ‘Taking Over,’ among others.

According to him, he composed the song and gave it to Criss Waddle because he felt he was the one who could perform better on the song.

Talking about how he arrives at the final product of his songs, he said he does a lot of assessment before he decides to jump on a song.

I have had a number of songs that after getting the creative idea, I realise that it is beautiful but I can’t churn that out. A song like ‘Biegya’, I felt I’m not the one to churn out so I was like, ‘Waddle, why not take this song so I’ll be the one to feature on it?’ I wrote the song. I didn’t mean to say this but it’s because you’ve asked me that’s why this issue is out. I have written a couple of songs for some people. Sometimes, you tune it around a little to suit what you stand for,” he said.

He made this revelation when he spoke to Sammy Flex of Zylofon FM on their morning show ‘Showbiz Agenda.’

Last year there was a tussle between Shatta Wale and Criss Waddle when Criss said Shatta had stolen his song.

Accordng to Criss Waddle, he was the first to have recorded a song with that title only so he was surprised when he realized Shatta Wale had a released a song with same title.

Stonebwoy has described such comments as “a shame” and has chided the media for buying into it to sell their stories.

This comes after he reported that his wife, Louisa Satekla was hurt by a stray knife during the ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert.

In the statement he posted on Facebook, he said the ‘assailants’ missed him as target, hence the knife cutting his wife at the back.

When he posted the story, most people expressed doubts about the verity of the account, describing it as mere stunt.

However, Stonebwoy has taken to Facebook to dispel the claims:

Stonebwoy, after his show on Saturday, September 30, 2017, posted on Facebook that his wife had been harmed with a knife that cut through their tent at the Sakasaka Park where the show was held.

Stonebwoy in his post said whoever threw the knife missed him as target and rather ended up injuring his wife at her back.

Many have also questioned why the management of the artiste have not reported the case to the police if truly it matters to them.

In an Instagram post however, Blakk Sidi explained that what happened was a mere accident and must not attract any serious investigations or blame games.

“It is unfortunate that some on social media choose to blame the manager, Zylofon Media Security staff and the team around, but I hope that their assertions will not sow any seeds of discord among us. I feel that we have a very loyal and supportive staff and I pray that the team will remain cohesive and that no disharmony will stem from what happened to our queen. I want to believe the incident that happened at the venue was an accident rather than someone trying to assassinate or stab our artiste. It was all love on the night, and all the numbers were present because of Stonebwoy. (now the big question is ,why will somebody try to take the life of Stonebwoy at a place where he’s got everybody there to defend him?). Security breaches occur even at the White House and Buckingham palace, so it could also happen at Sakasaka Park,” he wrote.

In a related development, Sammy Flex, Head of Communications for Zylofon Media, handlers of Stonebwoy, has told KMJ in an interview on Hitz FM that the management did not report the case to the police because they thought it was a mere accident that befell the wife of the artiste, and not necessarily an attempt by anyone to harm the artiste.

Sammy also dispelled assertions that the story was a stunt.

“Why would he even do this when he has a big show with a huge crowd that even some political parties cannot pull,” he said.

Stonebwoy ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert brought together hot artistes like Shatta Wale, Patapaa, LilWin, Kumi Guitar, Joyce Blessing, Kofi Kinaata, Obibinii, King Promise, Fancy Gadam, Teephlow, Kurl Songx and Becca.

The concert has been described as one of the biggest outdoor events held in 2017 so far.
