ASP Azalekor of the National Patrol Department (NPD), Accra Region, last Friday arrested one Maame Afua and sent her to the Legon Police Station.

The police officer is seen ordering the artiste and his friends to get into their cars and follow him to the police station.

Shatta Wale, after unsuccessful attempts to persuade the policeman to let him and his friends go, flared up, raining words on the police officer for dealing with a public figure like him in such a manner.

Investigations by The Finder indicate that the senior police officer made a report that on Thursday at about 15:20pm, while on patrol with his team, he had an encounter with Shatta Wale, a popular musician at Mempeasem, near Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon.

According to him, during the encounter, the suspect, Maame Afua, assisted by the daughter of her madam, who is currently on the run, took a video of what transpired at the scene and circulated same on social media.

ASP Azalekor, in his report, said he arrested Maame Afua to inform police for further action.

When contacted, Maame Afua told The Finder that around 3:00pm last Thursday, the policeman stopped a car with a number plate as Shatta 2.

According to her, ASP Azalekor sat in  Shatta Wale’s  car for a while and alighted.

She explained that, minutes later, Shatta Wale came to the scene with his Range Rover and parked it in the middle of the road.

She said discussions between the musician and the police officer turned into heated exchanges, and Shatta Wale drove off and was soon followed by the Shatta 2 car and the police vehicle.

Maame Afua explained that the heated exchanges drew her attention, adding that she came out of a hairdressing salon where she works to witness the altercation between the musician and the peace officer.

According to her, the police officer returned to the scene of the incident the following day to show her a video.

The policeman told her that since she appeared in the video, they are looking for the one who shot the video.

Maame Afua said she told the police officer that she did not take the video but it is possible the video was shot by her madam’s daughter.

She stated that the police drove her to the madam’s house with the intention of arresting the madam’s daughter, but the lady was not home.

She told The Finder that the police then took her to Legon Police Station and detained her and said she would only be released when the one who shot the video is arrested.

The hairdresser said she called her madam, who in turn called Agbeko Kumordzi, a neighbour, to go to the police station to help her.

Kumordzi told The Finder that when he got to the police station, a woman who is a customer of the hairdresser was at the police station seeking why the hairdresser was arrested.

According to Kumordzi, one police officer attempted to assault the lady for insisting to know why the hairdresser was arrested.

He said a taxi driver who drove the lady to the police station prevented the police officer from assaulting the lady.

Angered by the action of the taxi driver, Kumordzi said two police officers corked a pistol and a rifle, pushed the driver to the ground and detained him too.

He said the police officers also detained the woman who was insisting on knowing the rationale behind the arrest of the hairdresser and the taxi driver.

Kumordzi alleged that Azalekor ordered that the persons detained should not be granted bail.

However, he said a crime officer, named Aboagye, who came to the Legon Police Station on monitoring duties, ordered that they be granted bail to report on Saturday.

Maame Afua reported to the police station the following day and one officer accompanied her to the hairdressing shop to inspect where the vehicles in the video were parked during the incident.

Shatta Wale responds

Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has come out with an explanation for his reaction towards the police officer.

The musician, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., indicated that one of the law enforcement officers called him a rascal, a description he deems very offensive.

The star had been stopped by the cops for driving an unregistered car in Accra.

In the video, Shatta Wale can be seen in a heated exchange of words with the police officer before returning to his vehicle and driving off.

An eyewitness, Agbeko Kumordzi told Citi News that the officer had asked the musician to follow him to the police station after he stopped the unregistered vehicle.

However, in a fit of rage, Wale reportedly hurled abuse at the officer and sped off.

Quite predictably, a number of people gathered at the scene to witness the incident, with at least one person capturing the entire exchange on their phone.

However this landed one of the onlookers in a bit of bother as police later detained a woman they suspected had shot the video, which has since gone viral on social media.

“There was somebody in the shop videoing what was happening. The person making the video was fixated on Shatta Wale and not even the unregistered jeep that caused all this commotion. The police came back the following day to arrest the lady they claimed took the video,” the eyewitness said

She was reportedly kept in custody for a number of hours before the police determined that she couldn’t have taken the video, as she can be seen in it, and released her.

A video posted by rapper Pope Skinny, a close friend of Shatta Wale on Instagram, shows the artiste and some friends singing and praying to God.

He wrote: “And This Is How We Spent Our Vals Day.Prayer Is The Key.”

Some crew members of the Kejetia Vs. Makola TV series are seen in the video.

It is however believed that this could be a video shoot for a scene in the movie by the Kejetia Vs. Makola crew which stars Shatta Wale.

Shatta Wale recently said he would burn churches if by December, 2018 he is still alive.

This comes on the back of prophecy by Prophet Cosmos Walker Affran that the dance hall artiste will be the next celebrity to die after Ebony.

The Ghanaian Dance hall artiste who signed a three-year deal with Zylofon Media on Wednesday was accompanied by his wife, Shatta Michy to the unveiling.

The programme which was held at the company’s head office at East Legon in Accra saw a lot of Shatta Movement fans at the forecourt and on the streets.

It was also characterised by a thick vehicular traffic, with huge security presence.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah said his firm will do everything possible to put Shatta Wale on the international scene.

“Zylofon will take him global,” he added.

According to the Public Relations Officer of Zylofon Media, Samuel Atuobi Baah (Sammy Flex), the record label will be in charge of the branding, production, distribution, and marketing of Shatta Wale’s songs – and this is for a period of 3 years.

He however did not give out details of the contract as to how much was given to the dance hall artistes. But sources say Shatta has been given $1.5 million, a Rolls-Royce and a house.

At the press conference, Shatta Wale said “I am seeing today like historical, I am seeing today like Christmas, I am seeing today like first July.”

He was thankful to the Chief Executive Officer of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah for making him part of the Zylofon family.

“I am seeing today as a special day just because I was praying to God to give me a record label, not just a record label but a good one of course. Nana Appiah (CEO of Zylofon Media) has made it possible for me and I am happy about it.”

On his part, Nana Appiah Mensah stated that the signing of Shatta Wale was not to create competition between signees of the company but rather between Ghanaian artistes and foreign acts.

The Shatta Movement boss now joins Stonebwoy, Becca, Kumi Guitar, Joyce Blessing, Obibini who were signed on the record label last year.

Shatta Wale real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah, is one of the biggest dance hall artistes in Ghana.

The controversial musician is renowned for hits such as ‘Kakai,’ ‘Mahama Paper,’ ‘Ayoo,’ ‘Taking Over,’ among others.

Earlier, the dance hall king had announced on social media that he was going to surprise one of the Militants.

The Militants are three up and coming artistes Shatta Wale is projecting. They were featured on his ‘Taking Over’ song which made a good showing on the music scene in 2017. The Militants is comprised of Joint 77, Addi Self and Captan while asking his fans to make a wild guess on what it would be.

Shatta Wale did the presentation via Facebook Live, surrounded by the Shatta Movement crew.

Captan, after receiving the gift, said: “I don’t even know what to say. I’m over excited, I’m speechless.”

Shatta Wale noted that if he was a producer, he would always make sure his artistes feel comfortable like he has done for Captan.

“We wan show the world say we dey live in love. This be talent. This be what I go do give my artistes if I be producer for Ghana. We go fit protect and help wanna country grow without any help.”

Last year, Shatta Wale gifted his mum Elsie Evelyn Avemegah a Kia Rio car. Despite his controversial nature, most people have expressed their admiration for the dance hall artiste for such kind gestures.

Tic Tac walked out of the interview because visuals of Shatta Wale’s video were playing in the background while the interview was ongoing.

According to him, it was disrespectful for the station to have shown Shatta Wale’s video when he was on set for an interview.

“I did not come here to promote Shatta Wale,” he said and left the studio.

Attempts by the host Baisiwa Dowuna Hammond to get him back in his seat proved futile as the hip-life musician walked off the set.

Some had expected that because of the feud between Tic Tac and Shatta Wale, the latter would blast him for what happened.

However, Shatta Wale in a Facebook post rather endorsed what Tic Tac did, saying it affirms the ideals he has been preaching for some time now.

“I think Tictac really made the best move ever. This is what I have been talking about. We should respect an artiste when he is your studios or on phone talking. How can you be asking about Shatta Wale whilst Tic Tac is there. My plan is working. Ghana artistes, lets free ourselves from the timidity and fear…we can do this ..but yo TicTac tell your colleagues ,you people sleep too much..wake up !!! #changeiscoming,” Shatta wrote.

Tic Tac and Shatta Wale have been at loggerheads after the latter had said that the former did not make good use of what he had when he was in his prime.

Shatta Wale had said Tic Tac and some other musicians who came before him, were not smart, and as a result have been broke.

Tic Tac is getting ready to release his 7^th album titled ‘Mama Grace.’

While some have detested his claim to Nima, he has been hailed by others as the King of Nima, an accolade which VIP think is theirs.

Biggie further noted that the whole ‘slap drama’ was just a stunt to give people something to talk about.

Shatta Wale slapped his bodyguard Biggie Sparta at the S-Concert held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday for preventing a fan from climbing the stage to touch him.

Samini is the second dance hall artiste who has come out to ask Nana Akufo-Addo to invite him for his gift after Shatta Wale’s recent visit to the President.

This is after dance hall act Stonebwoy had also asked Nana Addo to invite him for a gift just as he presented the gold-plated coat f arms to the Shatta Wale.

Samini, who is known to be one of the arch-rivals of Shatta Wale in a recent tweet, has also expressed interest in meeting the President.

In the tweet, he thanked the President for endearing himself to entertainment and also reminded him of his birth date.

“@NAkufoAddo thanks for bridging the gap between entertainment and government. Now that doors are open, December22 is #myown oo akye,” he said.

On October 17, 2017, Nana Addo wished Shatta Wale a happy birthday in pidgin English and asked that he paid him a visit at the Flagstaff House.

President Akufo-Addo tweeted: “Happy birthday @shattawalegh! You for come visit me for Flagstaff House o!”

On Wednesday 1^st November, 2017, the ‘Dance hall King’ visited the President at the Flagstaff House and was presented with a gold-plated coat of arms.

Shatta Wale at the visit, asked Nana Addo to make Stonebwoy and him music ambassadors and to also fulfil his 2016 campaign promises for the creative arts.

Samini’s addition to the equation, some have said, is a good augury for the arts because it dissipates the rivalry that had existed between Samini and Shatta Wale; and Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale over the years.
