Stonebwoy took to the stage on Saturday night for his Ashaiman to the World concert, but unbeknown to the thousands of his fans present, the dancehall star and his wife had been attacked moments before his performance.

Stonebwoy, real name Livingstone Etse Satekla, revealed the worrying information on his Facebook page on Sunday, indicating that his wife, Louisa, was injured in the attack at the Saka Saka Park.

It appears he was the target of the knife attack, but the unknown assailants missed and ended up cutting his wife, who he recently married in June 2017.

Louisa was rushed to the hospital minutes after the 2017 BET Awards nominee ended his act.

“Knife cuts Tru My Tent Missed Me As Target And Cuts wifey on her back side! Minute Before I Hit Stage! But #IstillDeliveredForMyPeople and Rushed To The hospital right after I Got Off Stage… ” the caption on a picture of his ripped tent stated.

In that very stage performance, Stonebwoy was joined on stage by seeming rival, Shatta Wale, who fulfilled an earlier promise to join his fellow dancehall artiste on stage.

The concert also featured the likes of Kofi Kinaata, Yaa Pono, Kofi Slay, and Sariki.

The Ashaiman area is known to be a core constituency of Stonebwoy’s fanbase. The town is one of the areas in the Greater Accra Region with a high crime rate.

Citi 97.3 FM has launched a new campaign aimed at rallying Ghanaians together to boost national development.

The campaign seeks to get Ghana united to promote healthy patriotic conversations about national issues and to get action taken to improve the state of the nation.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ZomFqI5wB8QSAVwvQ7scYT2dfJfGXaqp”]Ghana, the first sub-Saharan country to attain independence 57 years ago, is still going through a lot of challenges on all the major fronts. Cholera still kills people in Ghana, education, infrastructure and other key areas are facing dire challenges.

The country’s currency keeps depreciating against other major currencies and businesses are going through difficult times.

Labor unrest has also slowed down economic growth, farmers are reeling in hardships and the nation seems to be losing the fight against poverty.

In addition, corruption and over-politicization of issues coupled with conflicts in some major towns have

Citi FM launched the #ONEGhana campaign on Friday on the authoritative Citi Breakfast Show, and the director of news programming, Bernard Avle, outlined the objective of the campaign.

“We want to urge the youth and the next generation of leaders to learn from the past and build a better future for our children and children’s children.

“We’ve been exporting gold in its raw forms for many years with no gold processing center. We’ve been exporting cocoa for many years but cocoa farmers are still very poor without any proper cocoa industry in Africa. Holland, Switzerland and the UK control the cocoa market and we simple produce cocoa. The same happens with bauxite and oil. Our problems are very obvious but solving them is not easy. It takes great leadership on all fronts. We need doers and thinkers, not just talkers.”

According to Avle, the #ONEGHANA project is something Citi FM is going to pursue religiously to change the mindsets of Ghanaians to unite, brainstorm and build the nation together.

In line with creating the buzz and whip up patriotism, the station is giving out special #ONEGHANA vehicle bumper stickers to take the message further to the populace.

The #ONEGHANA hashtag has seen a lot of activity on social media after the launch with people pledging to do more to make Ghana better.

Below are some of the #ONEGHANA tweets.

Sanitation is a major problem in Ghana. A recent cholera outbreak in Accra has claimed 45 lives and affected over 5000 others. Reports indicate that one person has died and about 25 other cases of cholera recorded in Kumasi.

One of the main challenges when it comes to preventing diseases is access to toilet facilities.

In rural communities across Ghana, the  access to improved sanitation has remained almost unchanged over the years. The level of communities’ access to improved sanitation facilities in Ghana’s rural areas remains very low – 92 percent of households lack access to improved sanitation.

Yusif Rahman visits his native Garu Timpane in the Upper East region to examine why open defecation, popularly called free range, remains prevalent in the area.

Marriage is a very important ceremony in every community in Ghana. The requirements for marriage differs from ethnic group to ethnic group.

The dowry (or bride price), which is an amount a prospective groom pays to the brides family has become the source of sorrow for many would-be couples.

In some part of the power-plagued Upper West region of Ghana, a man may have to cough between 5000 and 30000 cowries plus about 4 to 12 cows as the bride price.

This situation has resulted in some would-be couples cohabiting without going through the normal traditional rites. Those who manage to pay the expensive dowries end up abusing their wives because of the perceived sense of ownership due to the payment of the bride price.

Should marriage be this expensive?

How can would-be couples live their dreams in such circumstances?

How can domestic violence be prevented due to this situation?

Should the payment of dowries be abolished?

Latif Mahama tells the story of the enslaved wives of Wa in this documentary.
