According to one of the residents, Mathias Licho, the constituency still depends on the Yendi fire station anytime there is a fire outbreak.

The constituents believe a fire station situated in the area will be prudent in times of need.

This became a matter of great concern to the residents after a bush fire killed two people, and left others injured on New Year’s day.

The victims were winnowing rice on a farm in Bukob, a suburb of Saboba.

“Saboba is a constituency on its own. Saboba was joined to the Chereponi district. It got to a point that Chereponi had to break off. It baffles me as to why Saboba has no fire service of its own, we have to depend on Yendi almost all of the time,” Mr. Licho lamented.

Narrating the incident to Citi News, a victim of the incident who escaped death by timely intervention said “We were on our farm winnowing rice when we saw smoke from a near by bush, so we though it was from a far distance or some one may have set the fire to cook some food. Before we knew it, the fire engulfed us and we didn’t know what to do, so we decided to run for our lives, so I picked up a small child and started to run with the child which my son also run for his life.”

“I did my best by running and just a small distance to get to a safer place I fell down with the child; so my son quickly came and took the child from my hands and held my hand and dragged me to a safer place but I had some minor burns,” she said.

The victims were rushed to Assemblies of God Hospital in Saboba, and upon their arrival, the two women were confirmed dead.

Those who sustained minor injuries are currently getting treatment at the Hospital, whiles the bodies of the two dead women have been released to the bereaved family for burial.

Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Specifically, all GCB products and services including our SME banking services, 24 hour personal loan, electronic banking services covering ATMs, SMS banking, internet banking and GCB mobile banking will offer.”

Mr. Agbeshi implored residents of Saboba and its environs to deepen their savings culture by patronizing the bank’s products.

He also encouraged residents of the area to take advantage of the bank’s investment facilities to expand their businesses.

The Paramount chief of Saboba, Ubor Cheek Binalibemi Kambonja I asked his people to stop keeping their money at home.

He bemoaned most residents practice of burying money under ground and most often in thatch roof.

Ubor Kambonja commended management of GCB bank limited for making banking simple for his subjects.
The outgoing District Chief Executive for Saboba, Adolph Ali John thanked residents of the area for their peaceful coexistence.

According to him, the Saboba branch was made possible because of the peaceful atmosphere.
Adolph Ali urged residents of the area to cooperate with the incoming government for meaningful development.
