The event will see three schools; St. Thomas Aquinas, Adisadel College and Prempeh College, battle for supremacy and bragging rights.

The three competitors successfully triumphed over other schools throughout the contest to make it to this stage.

[contextly_sidebar id=”Fb4ccIejkICSyp9jtv7bk5i4utWDZYu3″]The preliminary stages of the competition began on June 5, 2017 at the University of Ghana, Legon, with 108 Senior High School taking part in 38 contests.

The preliminary stages occurred simultaneously at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium and the New N Block at the University of Ghana.

In each of the 36 contests, three schools competed. Winners of the 36 preliminary contests later joined the 27 seeded schools from the 2016 edition of the competition at the one-eighth stage.

Other 18 schools that had highest losing scores at the previous stage also progressed to this stage. The 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz has Citi FM as the official media partner.

Citi FM aired live the semi-final contests on Monday, and will also do same for the grand finale today [Thursday], June 29, 2017.

From leading with 30 points in the first round against Mfantsipim’s 18, Prempeh College managed to maintain their lead to the end of the contest that many expected to be very tough.

Despite their quick run to close the gap between them and Prempeh College in the second round, Mfantsipim could not keep to the pace of Prempeh College in the third round.

Prempeh’s perfect 10 out of the 10 points awarded in the 3^rd round saw them further widen the gap between them and Mfantsipim while Mawuli School struggled to make significant impact in the contest, after they benefited from the round 4 questions.

#NSMQ2017: Ghana National ‘pushes’ Adisadel to grande finale

Earlier, Adisadel College made it into the final stage.

The last round of contest is between St Thomas Aquinas, PRESEC and  Kumasi High.
