The Founder and Leader of the Calvary Charismatic Church (CCC), Ransford Obeng, has admonished Ghanaians to embrace 2018 with renewed hope and confidence.

He also called on Ghanaians to remain resolute and continue to seek God as they enter the new year.

According to him, 2018 is a year full of hope, and that all believers must maintain their relationship with their creator and seek his guidance in every situation.

Pastor Obeng spoke to Citi News after he delivered a sermon at a packed auditorium during the Church’s 31st Watch night service in Kumasi.

“God says I should tell Ghanaians that the same way they have sought his face and he answered their prayer, and they have been patient with him, they should continue to be patient. The same Lord knows their cry and as they continue to seek him, he will meet all their needs”, he stressed.

Pastor Obeng indicated that, the hope of every believer must be in their creator, and they must continue to call upon him in every situation they find themselves.

He also cautioned political leaders not to forget the God that has guided them throughout the previous year.

He said the current political leaders have started on a good note, and must continue to work hard to better the lives of the citizenry.

President Akufo Addo has asked Ghanaians to expect massive levels of development in the country in 2018.

According to the president, since his government came into power in 2017, it has built a strong foundation which is now ready for accelerated development.

[contextly_sidebar id=”mMIRuAg9T5y5WwpgtGVy9IPZ6e6LWHSI”]Speaking at the technology exhibition organized by the Kristo Asafo Church, President Akufo said 2018 will be a better year than the previous one.

“In 2017 I said I was in a hurry but in 2018 it will be supersonic, we must help ourselves to improve Ghana. We should stop begging and be productive, we can do it, we have to do things on our own. If we don’t do this we can never develop “the president said.

He urged Ghanaians to be masters of technology in other to be self-sufficient and to support ‘Ghana beyond Aid.’

Several government officials, including the President himself, have consistently noted that it is imperative that Ghana attains financial independence from foreign donors for the sake of its dignity.

Nana  Addo reiterated that his administration was committed to ensuring that it reduces the country’s dependence on donor support until the country becomes completely independent of aid.

He insisted that in order for the country to achieve its agenda to survive beyond aid, focusing on improving technology will be key.

“We have to be self-sufficient and stand on our own feet, and we are going to be able to do that if we are masters of technology like Apostle Kojo Sarfo is trying to be for us” the President added.

Not a day passes in Ghana that corruption is not talked about or reported in the media. The decadence cuts across all facets of the Ghana’s social, political and economic life. In my recent article” Fighting Corruption In Ghana – The Christian And The Integrity Value Proposition”,  the thrust of the article intended for all- especially  Christians to  stop and think about our individual contributions to the spiral growth of the corruption situation in the country.

As it appears, we did not even read it! But, I come again to reiterate this same point again as we make our New Year resolutions.  I promise to keep this article short so you will read!

As it is our ritual, we are busily putting down our”great expectations” to God requesting him to forcefully honour at all cost. We want new jobs, continue that building project or buy new fleet of cars, and also travel opportunities and more. Also we look at higher academic laurels to our chain. And that is normal with every human being, don’t get me wrong.

I read an article this week which   the Principal of Jackson College of Education, Mrs Theodosia is eliciting engagement which makes the teaching of  ”corruption ” a compulsory subject right from the basic education right up to the university education levels.

Whiles that view could be a layer to solving the hydra headed situation the Ghanaian society is currently bedevilled with, I ask, who is going to teach the subject and how exemplary is the one? Right from the clergy, political and the ordinary man on the street doing the criticism of the assumed corrupt is corrupt himself!

We refuse to honour our tax responsibilities yet we want development in our communities. Those who pay falsify their tax liabilities to the state.

Our communities are filthy because we dump rubbish anywhere when no one is watching. Our gutters are choked and the stench is killing us .we build houses without toilet facility because the building authority will not do their monitoring work of ensuring that is done.

Well, my proposition is, as we put our requests to God for a brighter 2018, I wish for all us to also ask God to make us change agents- at the personal level to the fight against corruption at all levels.

In that wise, I cease taking 10% or ‘brown envelope’ for that contract, will not condone, connive or implicitly do anything with underlying undertones to making money inappropriately. Also I will retire all expense for that project – including the remaining resource honestly.  As a policeman, it is my duty to protect the citizenry and not collecting moneys from them for same.

As a Judge, Politician, Pastor and Reverend Minister, Chief, Educationist, Civil Servant, Media Practitioner ,Student, Labourer , National Service  Personnel (NSS)  and all others, we resolve to fighting  corruption in 2018 and beyond by first being agents of change and reporting corruption to the appropriate institutions for  prosecution and ensuring prosecution wherever they may be.

Wishing all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous Corruption free Happy New year!

Growing up, I have always wondered if there ever was a new year.

The orthodox thing was the arrival of a 31st of December and off we go to church, for hours we pray, cast out demons, enter into family houses to break generational altars, claim our riches, claim our marriages and crown it with resolutions, I just can’t say much for our Muslim brethren, and others of different beliefs.

Honestly at a certain age, not only did this act become boring but disappointing because nothing really changes after the 31st of December, it has always been the same ‘me’, same environment and frustrating of all is the fact that the so called New Year sometimes become worst of than the previous ones.

Truth is I almost questioned my pastor’s position as a man of God and what he meant each time by ‘This year is your year’.

However, I have always been grateful for one thing; life, and that’s my only consolation.

I must confess my gratitude to God in the past year 2016, not only for life; but also the understanding of a New Year.

The Bible says ‘as a man thinks so he is’. So a new year is not the ritual observation of a 31st of December to cross into the another year, neither is it the celebration of a 1st of January, but rather a total renewal of the mind; appreciating life as a gift, a conscious analysis of how we perceive things, doing well in the things we can, loving genuinely, embracing who we are and self-discipline.

Every day of our lives should be celebrated as a miracle other than wait for the end of the year.

Once our eyes are opened to this fact, we will learn that every day is an opportunity to become a better person, right our wrongs, and take advantage of the opportunity life presents us.

Truth is, the Monday or any other day of the old year and the New Year are not different, it is what you do differently on the New Year’s Monday from the old year.
Many have suffered disappointments and are frustrated because their prophesied new year didn’t turn out to be what they expected.

The truth is that, much is dependent on the individual than perceived miracles.

I am a bit uncomfortable what Christianity has been reduced to in recent times, maybe it is time our religious leaders teach us certain principles such as attitudinal change and God, a principled Man.

Actually, a prophesy is only a confirmation that God knows what your plans are and approves them; so ideally you work at those plans and he blesses, but you do not sit and expect a miracle.

Nothing good or bad happens just by chance, they are as consequence of a certain action, let’s be responsible enough not to think the answer to every predicament is ‘God knows best.’

As a nation, a good or bad year has just little to do with the government in power, the greater work lies with the individual, the floods are likely to sweep us off our feet again if we still throw rubbish indiscriminately about and we will continue marking time for as long as we don’t practice any such thing as ‘maintenance culture’.

A newness of a year is relative; depending on every individual and what you make of life each day.
