Barely 48 hours after Dr. Elsie Effah Kauffman, quiz mistress of the National Science & Maths Quiz lost her bag and its valuable content at the grand finale of the contest, Citi News has learnt that her ID cards and purse have been found.

They were dropped at the University of Ghana by an unknown person.

The found purse contained her drivers’ license and ATM cards, however, the money was taken.

Dr. Kaufmann’s sister, Belinda Yaa Dankwaa Effah in a Facebook post on Saturday said: “Update from NSMQ Mistress’ stolen bag: Wallet /purse inside the bag has been dropped at the University of Ghana.”

She added that, “Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann thanks whoever came to drop off the purse. She says she needs to have a perfect score so the bag also has to be dropped. The purse has her IDs, driver’s license and ATM cards. The cash is gone.”

She had earlier posted the Quiz mistress’ appeal for the bag to be returned.

After a successful final between Prempeh College, Adisadel College and St. Thomas Aquinas at the National Theatre on Thursday, it emerged that the Quiz Mistress, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann’s handbag had been stolen.

Efforts to immediately trace the thief proved futile, forcing organizers to make public appeals for assistance to retrieve the bag which was said to have contained her ATM cards, her purse, some amount of money, reading glasses, among other valuables.

Mfantsipim School on Saturday eliminated St. Peter’s School, their longtime rival, and Kwahu Ridge SHTS in an exciting one-eighth stage contest of the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz.

Before the start of the contest, the R.S Amegashie Auditorium was charged with supporters of the competing schools cheering their respective contestants on to victory.

Mfantsipim School was looking for revenge against St. Peter’s School, having lost to them on two previous occasions in 2000 and 2007.

The first round ended with Mfantsipim School and St. Peter’s SHS scoring 12 points each whilst Kwahu Ridge SHTS managed to pull two points.

In the fourth round, St. Peter’s School correctly answered all their questions, bridging the gap with leaders, Mfantsipim, from fifteen to twelve points.

In the final round of the contest, the contestants of St. Peter’s School, Richard Owusu and John-Edwin Gadasu, gave their all in a remarkable fashion to equalise with Mfantsipim.

Gadasu picked and correctly answered all the four riddles in the final round to gain twelve points.
