The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth in the Zabzugu District of the Northern Region,  have congratulated the District Chief Executive nominee for the area, Ahmed Abukari Iddrisu.

As a senior lecturer with the Bagabaga Education College in Tamale, Ahmed Abukari Iddrisu’s nomination strengthened the party’s unity in the area.

The party youth, led by one of the female disappointed DCE hopefuls, Madam Hamdia Shahad Alhassan, endorsed the President’s nominee.

The former NPP Zabzugu Constituency Communications Director was among the 25 Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees for the Northern Region out of the President’s list of 216.

Madam Hamdia Shahad Alhassan pledged her unflinching support to the DCE nominee to uplift the image of the Zabzugu district.

In a citifmonline.com interview, she described Ahmed Abukari Iddrisu as a time-tested grassroots politician capable of fixing the district’s developmental challenges.

Madam Hamdia pleaded with assembly members in the area to overwhelmingly confirm Ahmed Abukari Iddrisu.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed has implored Journalists in the region to be circumspect with their reportage on security matters.

He pinpointed the hostilities that characterized the official announcement of list of Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees for the Tolon, Savelugu and Sagnarigu districts.

[contextly_sidebar id=”alrAMc7pfT46dKUkrMuOrBoQaa00t9T2″]Some angry youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the aforementioned districts went on rampage and vandalized party paraphernalia in protest.

The situation attracted negative publicity which created a bad image for the region.

Salifu Saeed at a media briefing unequivocally condemned the spontaneous reactions to the President’s decision.

He reprimanded the angry youth and tasked them to use the appropriate channels to address their grievances.

He also tasked party executives at the various constituencies to take charge and calm nerves.

He emphasized the need for chiefs and people of the troubled districts to respect the President’s decision and support the MDCE nominees to get hundred percent confirmation.

According to him, the disappointed MDCE aspirants will be fixed in the appropriate Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

He said the current NPP government under the watch of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo abhors lawlessness.

“President is unhappy about the hostilities and needs a peaceful environment to deliver good governance.”

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, has called for permanent ceasefire of the hostilities that has characterized the nomination of some Municipal and District Chief Executives for some 25 district assemblies in the region.

Some angry youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the release of some MMDCEs, went on rampage and destroyed party paraphernalia in protest.

The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed, today (Thursday), visited some of the hotspots and called for calm. He urged the rampaging youth to be law abiding and follow due process to express their anger.

He later paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Tolon, Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari, who rejected the President’s nominee for the area, Hajia Amama Shaibu.

He appealed to the Tolon Regent to accept the President’s nominee and support her get the assembly members’ confirmation. Salifu Saeed said it is the collective responsibility of traditional rulers and government to develop the nation.

He appreciated the role of Retired Major Sulemana Abubakari in promoting peace and unity in the Dagbon state. The Regional minister promised to whip all MMDCEs in the region in line with the government’s positive change agenda.

He reassured the people of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo administration’s determination to fulfill its 2016 campaign manifesto.

He is optimistic the electorate will retain the NPP in power at the 2020 polls, based on its solid performance within the first term.
