Despite admonition by Lord Kenya that he should consider doing the work of God as minister of the gospel, Kwaw Kese believes he is not ready for such task.

The hiplife artiste, originally known as Emmanuel Botchwey, has disclosed to Sokoo Hemaa of Rainbow Radio that Philip Akpor Kenya aka Lord Kenya, who gained much prominence in the hiplife industry some years ago, wants him to follow his footsteps to the Lord’s vineyard.

He said in the interview that even though Lord Kenya was his inspiration when growing up as an artiste, he later became his best friend.

He added that while in prison for smoking marijuana in public, the hiplife musician-turned man of God visited him.

“We became paddies. When I was in prison, Lord Kenya came there. Just that he wants me to become a man of God but I am not ready. I have not received the calling from God to do his work,” he said.

However, he hinted that, if he receives the calling from God, he won’t hesitate to do his work.

“I cannot disobey the voice of God when he calls,’’ he noted.

He also added that he would not like to fake being a man of God. According to him most of the pastors who attend bible school do not have the calling from God – so he would not force himself to be one.

‘’It should be a natural call. I would be extremely happy if God calls me to work for him. God is supreme and bigger than my music so when he calls, I will not hesitate to obey him,’’ he told Sokoo Hemaa.

Lord Kenya

Evangelist Lord Kenya who is the leader of Lord Kenya Ministry at Ahodwo in Kumasi, ‘ditched’ secular music for the work of God in 2010.

He is known for songs like ‘Sika Baa,’ ‘Medo,’ ‘Mr P.O.P.,’ ‘Born Again,’ among others.

The ‘man insane’ Kwaw Kesse, yesterday appeared at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with a wheel barrow containing plaques of all awards he has won at the VGMA.

Kwaw Kesse and his wheelbarrow which was labelled ‘AWARDS FOR SALE,’ caught the attention of people at the foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre.

The hip life artiste recently was reported to have said in an interview on Hitz FM that winning an award at the VGMA does not put money into his pocket so he does not see why he should bother to submit his songs to the VGMA board.

“Stonebwoy won VGMAs and he went on to win the BETs. EL also won the VGMAs but didn’t even receive BETs nominations. If VGMA gives you the recognition and you don’t work your way to the top, you will not make money…if you don’t work yourself up, forget it. I’m all about money now so I can pay the fees of my kid,” he had said.

Kwaw Kesse has in the past won awards like Artiste of the Year, Hiplife Album of the Year, Hip life Artiste of the Year and Hiplife Song of the Year in 2008; Hip hop Song of the Year in 2012 and other nominations in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Ghanaian rappers Kwaw Kese, Edem and ace producer Da’ Hammer of the Last Two appear to have thrown their weight behind the Progressive People’s Party’s (PPP) presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom ahead of this year’s elections.

Edem and Kwaw Kesse in separate Instagram posts said they were convinced Nduom was the best man to lead the country, citing his ability to create jobs.

Da’hammer has convinced me… Ghana let’s put Dr Nduom in office. #Edwumawura #kokromotipower

Edem, known for hit songs such as ‘Heba’, ‘Nyornuviade’ and ‘Bra fremi’ stated that his choice was after a conversation with renowned record producer Edward Nana Poku Osei, popularly known as Hammer of The Last Two.

The three may be the only Ghanaian entertainers who have publicly declared their support or made a case for the PPP Presidential candidate, Dr Nduom.

Most entertainers in Ghana have endorse either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Mahama, who many have described as the leading candidates in this year’s election.

Entertainers endorsing Mahama and Akufo-Addo

Some musicians and actors who have endorse the NPP’s Akufo-Addo include Lucky Mensah, Wisa Greid, Dada KD, Kwabena Kwabena, Barima Sidney, Leo Mensah, Daddy Lumba, Nana Quame, A-Plus, Praye, Agya Koo and Cwesi Oteng.

Those who have endorse President Mahama include, John Dumelo, Selasie Ibrahim, Mr. Beautiful, Mzbel, Bukom Banku, Ayitey Powers and Papa Nii.

With the string of celebrity endorsements going round, Kwaw Kese has come out to rubbish reports that he declared his support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the December elections.

In a Facebook post, Kwaw Kese retorted, “I have never said that anywhere and don’t even take part in any voting… I don’t support and would never support any political party.”

He also noted that, he was pursuing the option of suing “any blogger or media house reporting these lies.”
