Crystal Palace who featured two Ghanaians Jeffrey Schlupp and Timothy Fosu-Mensah have been unimpressive in their previous games under their new manager, new boss Frank de Boer.

They have lost all their three matches without scoring a single goal.

Swansea City’s Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has turned his attention to his side’s weekend Premier League clash against Crystal Palace after scoring in Swansea’s 4-1 win over MK Dons in the 2nd round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Ayew was one of the stand out performers in his side’s come from behind win on Tuesday night against the English League One side.

The result which was Swansea’s first win of the season was a positive response from the team who were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United on Saturday in the Premier League.

Ayew has been reflecting on Tuesday’s performance and now wants his side to translate their midweek form into a win on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

“It wasn’t easy to begin with. They scored first, but after that we showed we are the better team. We got the equalizer and then ended up scoring four goals,” he said.

“We played some good football. We played our way – the way Swansea play and the way we want to play.

“That’s good because it gives us confidence for the game this weekend, which is massive for us.

“It’s always important to win and we know how important Saturday is. It’s not easy to win at Crystal Palace but we are not scared and we have confidence that we can go and get a result.”

“It’s always good to be winning, whoever you are playing against. It keeps confidence high and we have to keep that going,” he added. “We are a young team. We are doing good things and that’s positive.

“It’s not easy but we are doing well. The staff is behind us, the coach is doing a wonderful job.
“We have to keep working hard and try to get better, and hopefully that will bring us three points on Saturday.”

Swansea currently lie in 15th place with just a point from their opening two games.

The English Premier League season ended this Sunday with a lot of thrill and drama.

From John Terry’s emotional farewell speech, Liverpool’s comfortable stroll into the Top 4, to the suspense of wondering whether or not Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal we going to book a place in the Top 4, many things made the climax of the season memorable.

Ghanaian duo, Dede Ayew and Jordan Ayew both got their names on the scorecards, hitting the back of the net for their respective clubs; West Ham United and Swansea.jordan-ayew-swansea

More remarkable about their goals were that the blood-brothers scored in the same minute, the 72nd minute.

Dede Ayew’s goal gave West Ham the lead while Jordan’s was to get them on level pegging.

Jordan’s goal was his first for the club since he joined in January.

The game ended with both teams snatching the 3 points at stake.

Swansea, and West Ham, both won by 2 goals to 1.

Swansea City and Ghana forward Jordan Ayew says he has no positional preference as far as helping out his team is concerned.

The 25-year-old joined the Swans on a three and a half year deal in a swap transfer that saw Neil Taylor go in the opposite direction.

The versatile forward has only made 3 appearances for the team since making the move from Aston Villa.

On the field, Jordan has been alternated between the left wing and the central striker’s position but when questioned about his preferred position he was quick to indicate that helping the team regardless of his position is his priority.

“I don’t mind playing on the wing or upfront. “Wherever the manager places me I just want to be able to give a hundred percent. “Whatever happens after that isn’t too important to me,” he revealed.

Jordan Ayew believes he has found the “perfect place to grow” at Swansea City as he relishes the next step in his career.

The Ghanaian, who can play either on the wing or as a striker, takes part in his first training session with his new team-mates today, having arrived at the club after helping Ghana reach the African Cup of Nations semi-final.

Ayew was a transfer deadline day signing from Championship club Aston Villa, and may make a first appearance for his new club in Sunday’s Premier League fixture with defending champions Leicester City at the Liberty.

The 25-year-old spoke to his brother Andre, who finished top scorer at the Swans during his one season at the club, before completing his move to SA1.

“For the past three or four years I have been all over the place,” said Ayew, who has had five clubs since 2014.
“I need stability and I think this is the perfect place for me to grow and improve in a lot of aspects. I think I made a wonderful choice.

“I am so grateful to be here. It’s the next step in my career.

“I have been here several times in the past with my brother and I saw a lot of positive things.
“He spoke to me about the club and he said only good things.

“It didn’t take too long for me to make a decision.”
Villa’s top scorer during his one and only Premier League campaign, Ayew is now ready to play his part in helping Paul Clement’s side rise up the table.

Wins since the turn of the year over Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Southampton have moved the Swans out of the relegation zone.

And they look to continue their improved form when the Foxes visit the Liberty this weekend – a game which could see Ayew make his debut.

“I always knew this team had quality players. The team had hard times last season, and this season didn’t start too well,” added Ayew, who scored his first Premier League goal against the Swans in Villa’s 2-1 home defeat in the 2015-16 campaign.

“But the players are the same, and they just need confidence, which they have had in the last month with some fantastic results.

“Now we have an important game coming up. I am fit and available, but it’s up to the coach whether I play a part or not. It’s his decision.

“It’s a new chapter for me and I’m focused on doing my best for the team by creating assists and scoring goals.
“My debut comes when it comes. What is important is that we get the three points on Sunday because it’s a massive game for us.”

The Black Stars are into the semi-finals of the AFCON after a 2-1 win over DR Congo in the quarter-final.

Jordan Ayew latched onto a pass from Mubarak Wakaso, beat a defender and fired past the goalkeeper to give the Black Stars the lead in the second half.

1

The lead lasted only 7 minutes as Mpoku, fired in a beauty for the Congolese from just outside the penalty area.

However, the Black Stars restored their lead as Andre Ayew scored from the penalty spot after Christian Atsu was brought down in the penalty box.

Ghana will now face Cameroon who beat Senegal on penalties in the semi-final.

5

The Congolese should have taken an early lead as Hull City striker Dieumerci Mbokani pounced on a poor backpass, rounded the keeper but hit the post.

Mbokani thought he should have been awarded a penalty after a tussle with John Boye in the box but the referee waved play-on.

4

The Ghanaians struggled to get into the game but lacked a focal front up front.

The Black Stars resorted to long balls which were easily dealt with by the Congolese defence.

3

Christian Atsu, Jordan Ayew and Andre were shackled well by the defence and were unable to create much for the Stars

Mbokani had a couple more chances in the half firing wide when through on goal and straight at Brimah from just outside the box.

The Black Stars started the second half brightly with Andre Ayew firing in a shot which was saved comfortably by the goalkeeper.

But the Ghanaians were relentless and almost took the lead as Wakaso’s free-kick bounced in front of the keeper who just about kept it out.

2

Moments later, Jordan Ayew danced into the box, nutmegged a defender and was challenged as he cut back in the box but the referee waved play on.

Thomas Partey’s shot was then well saved by the Congolese keeper.

The Black Stars eventually broke the deadlock as Jordan Ayew fired past the Congolese keeper.

The Congolese found a way back into the game minutes later as Mpoku took on a Stars defence that kept backing away and fired in a belter.

But Andre Ayew fired the Black Stars into the semis from the spot after the marauding Christian Atsu was upended in the box.

The Congolese had a chance to equalise late on but Brimah, in Ghana’s goal was equal to a shot.

Christian Atsu almost sealed the win for Ghana but his shot was saved after a delightful run into the box but the Black Stars had done enough to secure a 6th straight semi-final appearance .
