This comes on the back of the announcement by the Minister that her outfit will be launching a channel called Agya Koo TV.

Agya Koo TV is meant to market local movies on to a bigger audience.

Catherine Ablema Afeku at the launch of the Agya Koo TV on Sunday, 4th January, 2018 at the Accra Mall told attractivemustapha.com, that even though there are several apps in the offing for artists like Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, Jackie Appiah, Lil Win among others, they chose to start with Agya Koo because he has the topmost local content brand.

When asked if actor John Dumelo was not best placed in terms of international appeal and exposure, Catherine said a scientific survey conducted by the ministry which considered both online and stratified sampling in their research methodology indicates that Agya Koo is more popular than John Dumelo.

“Agya Koo is more popular, when you go to my constituency, the people in the rural areas know Agya Koo but when you mention John Dumelo, they don’t know him,” she said.

According to the minister, after Agya Koo TV, Daddy Lumba TV will be next to be launched.

Many have suggested that John Dumelo’s alleged ‘spiteful’ post about him was a planned publicity stunt aimed at giving Mr. Boateng’s business visibility.

But Mr. Boateng has dismissed these claims, clarifying that he has never had any personal encounter with Dumelo.

According to Mr. Boateng , he only knew Dumelo as a former student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); the same institution he had his tertiary education years ago.

Godfred Boateng, caught the attention of Ghanaians on social media after Dumelo posted a photo of him hawking on the streets of Accra.

The post has since gone viral, with many questioning Dumelo’s motive for passing such a comment.

In the midst of these concerns, some have however suggested that it was a ploy by the two to attract public attention and capitalize on it to market the product which was launched in Accra two months ago.

But Godfred Obeng Boateng is insisting he has never encountered John Dumelo at any level, adding that the actor’s post was basically targeted at mocking him.

“I don’t have any relationship with him [John Dumelo], I learnt he was a former Tech [KNUST] student.”

“People have been laughing at me from way back so it was normal; it was one of those things. I just thought it was one of those people who don’t know entrepreneurship, those who don’t know how to create stuff from the scratch. I just took it that he is just laughing at my brand that I was now starting from the scratch. That was what he was thinking,” Mr. Boateng added.

Godfred Obeng Boateng, the CEO of A1 Bakery in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi has employed about two hundred young people who work with him at his bakery.

The company specifically produces A1 Cake bread and Auntie Mary bread in the Ashanti Region. It is currently experimenting the performance of the A1 cake bread in Accra as part of plans to expand its operations in the country.

Dumelo posted on his Instagram page a photo of the KNUST graduate, Godfred Obeng Boateng selling bread on the street and wrote: “Just saw a KNUST grad hawking in traffic…What went wrong?”

Some Ghanaians, however, descended heavily on Dumelo over the post.

Musician A-Plus who was angry over the post charged Dumelo to take it down.

“I’m angry!!! Every day I post my opinion. Today I’m posting my anger. John Dumelo remove this post from Instagram now!!! A bread seller is a human being. You can’t just take pictures of people and post it on your page for attention. A bread seller has right which must be respected. A bread seller is better than an armed robber!!! A bread seller is better than a drug dealer!!! It’s better for a person to hawk on the streets than to indulge in crime. I’m looking for this bread seller. John Dumelo must apologise to him. Or prepare for a legal battle!!!” he posted on his Facebook wall.

Meanwhile speaking to Citi Showbiz, Mr. Boateng who is also the Chief Executive Officer of bakery company, A1 Bread, said he is not bothered at all.

“I’m really busy, working. The dog will bark but then the caravan will park, I’m just busy selling and I know I have confidence.”

Boateng explained that every human is unique and that there are different paths to success.

“No one should be called upon what society thinks they should do. Some people are very good with office work and others are good with the hard way. You can’t force people to do business when they don’t have the interest,” he remarked.

The actor-turned-entrepreneur launched his clothing line J.Mello in Ghana in early 2012.

The J.Melo line includes collections from jewelry, bags, hoodies, Jeanswear and other clothing accessories.

His jewelry line is said to include necklaces, rings, earrings and wrist bangles made from beads, gold sapphire and other precious stones.
