Chief Executive Officer of B-BOVID, a Ghanaian innovative agricultural business based in Pretsir in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region, has been crowned the Chamber Businessman of the year 2016, at maiden Chamber Business Awards by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Awards.

B-BOVID was also recognized as the Innovative Agribusiness Company (Primary) of the year 2016.

Mr. Ouedrago was decorated by the President and presented with a citation, a portion of which read “Your passion towards self-empowerment and self-fulfilment drove you to set up a company, B-BOVID, through which you have touched and transformed many lives in the agro-sector.”

The maiden awards ceremony held at the State Banquet was to celebrate the finest of businesses that have demonstrated excellence in leadership and innovation in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Mr. Ouedraogo, the 2013 Western Region Best Farmer, in a Facebook post, expressed the company’s sincere appreciation to Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCC) for the recognition.

“We are truly humbled and honoured to receive these awards since it is an affirmation of the unique Social Inclusive Model underpinning our work. Other Award Winners at Chamber Business Awards

Mrs Bella Amu, the Director of Traffix Catering Services, won the Chamber Businesswoman of the Year, while Mr. Micheal Bozumbi, the Head of Petrosol Company Limited, won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Chamber Administrator, Mr Wilson Atta Krofah, was awarded for long service, while Dr Kwabena Dufuour won the Young Business in Banking and Finance.

Other winners included Coca cola Company Limited, Berock Ventures Limited, Tobinco Pharmaceutical Limited, Accra City Hotel, Dalex Finance, Royal Crown Package Limited won the Emerging Business of the Year.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten, commended all award winners for their contribution to the country’s business development, saying government would continue to provide business regulatory environment for the whole continent.

He said the Government was working assiduously to improve the country’s ranking on the World Bank Doing Business Index through the establishment of an electronic registry of business regulation.

This, the Minister said, would prevent the situation where individual public servants would determine which regulations applied at what time for business enterprises in the country.

President of the GCCI, Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I, said 80 nominations were shortlisted and assessed based on the seven criteria of the awards namely: Thought Leadership Engagement, Innovation and Technology, Corporate Social Responsibility, Customer Relationship Management, Annual Turnover, Profit, and Tax Compliance.

He said government’s pursuit of the industrialisation transformation agenda was commendable as it emphasised a strong private sector participation in the overall growth and development of the country.
