IBF Lightweight Champion, Emmanuel Tagoe, could be facing sanctions from the Ghana Boxing Authority for derogatory comments he made about fellow boxer Isaac Dogboe last month.

Tagoe and Dogboe were involved in a war of words late last month with Tagoe accusing Dogboe’s camp of defrauding certain individuals in a bid to stage their title bout in Ghana.

The bout in question was for the Interim WBO Super Bantamweight title which. Dogboe took on Mexican Cesar Juarez and won via a round 5 knockout.

“He has been going round defrauding people, Ibrahim Mahama, he defrauded him. He goes around with his son promising to do this or that and absconds. He recently defrauded someone also in the Volta Region,” Tagoe was quoted as saying on Happy FM after his defense of his IBF Lightweight World Title against David Saucedo.

President of the GBA, Peter Zwennes, says the matter is being looked into by the authority and Tagoe and his camp could face the full rigors of the law.

‘’We have summoned Tagoe and his team to the GBA to show course why he should not be disciplined for the sort of public comments he has been making before and after his last fight,’’ Zwennes said.

”I thought that given his dismissal and lackluster performance on that day, he should be more concerned with training and bettering his lot rather than casting aspersions and insulting everybody practically on sight.”

It is very essential that you know how to talk when you become a champion. You don’t just get up and say anything that comes to mind, because you are supposed to be a role model.

“It is very important that the boxer is made to know that there are legal implications if he transcends his barriers.”

They may have sparred once as friends in the past but there is no love lost between Jessie Magdaleno and Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe, as their impending bout to determine the undisputed champion of the WBO World Super Bantamweight title on 28th April draws closer.

It will be recalled that Dogboe (18-0-0) called out Magdaleno (25-0-0) shortly after dispatching Mexican Cesar Juarez by TKO for the interim WBO World Super Bantamweight title last January in Accra.

“Jessie Magdelano I’m coming for you baby. I know you are going to run but guess what the lion is here,” Dogboe taunted.

The American did not respond to that jibe but has suddenly found his voice and is coming directly for Dogboe’s head literally.

Magdaleno, 26, fired a salvo on Instagram with a picture of him mopping Dogboe’s decapitated head from a boxing ring with a mop.

A caption accompanying the photograph said: Hey @isaacbraveson hurry up and sign the damn contract and let’s get this fight going so I can mop you out this division!!.

The Royal Storm fired back poking at Magdaleno’s blonde hair by describing him as a “Becky with the good hair”.

“Becky With The Good Hair” @elpeligrosojmag …Firing Shots At Man, You Know! Tread Carefully My Blond Amigo…,” Dogboe posted.

Magdaleno later shared another edited picture of Dogbe shedding tears and urged his followers to supply captions for the chance to win autographed boxing gloves.

At this point, Dogboe, 23, got on Facebook and reminded Magdaleno of their sparring session in the past which he said had to be halted earlier than the intended 10 rounds because Magdaleno could not stand him.

He posted: “YOU DON’T WANT TO GET ME ANGRY Jessie Magdaleno *Keep Chatting Bare* It’ll encourage me to want to Knock YOU OUT, b. Hope you remember when we sparred in Vegas your corner stopped the sparring in the 5th Round whilst we were supposed to go for 10 … I was ONLY 4-0 back then Amigo…Guess what, Pretty Guy…

“TREAD VERY CAREFULLY With your MEMES and your words, Amigo.

“You’re a great guy but careful now, you’re entering into a Different Territory… Your Management can’t Save you…” Dogboe warned.

Isaac Dogboe, the WBO Interim Super Bantamweight Champion and his team from Rising Star Promotions were at the premises of Silver Star Auto Ltd (SSAL) on the Graphic road, on Thursday, 11th January 2018, to present the title he won against his Mexican opponent, Cesar Juarez, on Saturday, 6th January, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Dogboe (18-0, 12 KOs) made Ghanaians proud by stopping Mexico’s Cesar Juarez (20-6, 15KOs) in round five to win the interim WBO World Super Bantamweight belt.

Accompanied by his father and trainer Paul Dogboe, his manager Marwan Zakem and his uncle the team showed up at the office of the leading automobile dealer to present the title in appreciation of the support received for the fight.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Isaac Dogboe informed that SSAL has been a great partner with Team Dogboe and Rising Star Promotions for raising the awareness and profile of the team as such they deemed it appropriate to be present to celebrate the feat with them as an appreciation.

He observed that as a rising star in the ring it is always good to be associated with a great brand like Silver Star Auto / Mercedes-Benz as it provides the opportunity for growth and a positive image needed for promotion. “Promoting boxing is just like promoting a vehicle brand so as Team Dogboe and Silver Star Auto join forces we should expect nothing but history in the making on the Ghanaian boxing scene”.

The team was received by top Executives of the company including the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni; the General Manager, Passenger Vehicles, Mr. Francis Amegayibor; Sales Manager for Mercedes-Benz, Passenger Vehicles, Mr. Rabie Agha and Sales Manager for Suzuki, Mr. Kwaku Sintim Boamah.

On his part, Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni described the visit as a humble gesture “right from the first day the team contacted the company, they did not ask for fancy things but a little support to promote the fight and coming back to show appreciation tells corporate Ghana this is a humble team that deserves support”.

According to him, “Isaac Dogboe’s ambition is to go through several weight categories and we believe that with his international exposure, hard work ethics and commitment, he should be able to go far” and urged the boxer to keep on training well and living healthy.

Mr. Kalmoni hoped what was being witnessed will be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between the company and Team Dogboe / Rising Star Promotions as the company gears towards supporting the boxing fraternity just as it has done over the past for other sporting activities in the country.

New interim WBO Super bantamweight champion, Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe has paid tribute to his father and trainer, Paul Dogboe, after defeating Mexican Cesar Juarez in their bout on January 5 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Dogboe floored Juarez in the fifth round to get a technical knockout victory on the night.

Pundits have praised Dogboe’s all-out attacking approach to the bout but the boxer believes that his success is down to his team led by his father and chief trainer, Paul Dogboe.

“When I started boxing, my father told me that it was either I did the hard work or there was no need to start at all. I hope I have made him proud tonight.

He is the one guiding me and he directs me to go this way or that way. That is how we have kept moving forward. The credit goes to the team. My father, my coaches, the management team and the people of Ghana. People from all over the country to cheer us on.”

Dogboe’s professional career has climbed steadily since his participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He lost Japan’s Satoshi Shimizu in the first round of the Games but he has moved on and gone 18 pro bouts without defeat.

The 18th victory, which was against, Juarez sets up a very likely showdown with defending WBO Super bantamweight title holder, Jessie Magdaleno.

Sources say that March 2 could be the date for the bout.

Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe stopped Mexican Cesar Juarez on Saturday at the Bukom Boxing Arena in the 5th round, for the vacant WBO Interim Super Bantamweight title.

The bout started on a fast note for both boxers, but it was Dogboe who was more aggressive. He sought out Juarez from the bell and gave a strong indication of what his plans were for the night.

At 1:44 in the second round, Isaac Dogboe floored Juarez with a flashing left hook. The crowd cheered on but Juarez managed to stay on his feet to finish the second round.

Juarez showed more composure and fought stronger in the 4th round despite bleeding from a cut on the face.

However, Juarez was floored again the 5th round with a strong left hook, but referee Tony Weeks decided to end the fight despite protests from the Mexican.

The victory sets up a mandatory clash with the title holder Jesse Magdaleno sometime in 2018, and Dogboe called Magdaleno out.

“Jesse, I am coming for you, baby. You cannot hide anymore.”

With the win, Dogboe’s record now reads 18 bouts (12 by knockout) and no losses.

In the under card, Ghana’s Abraham Tabul and Patrick Anderson of the USA fought out a split draw in their cruiser weight title bout.

Tabul started brightly in their ten-round contest, but faded halfway through the fight and Anderson managed to get back into the fight.

The two boxers had issues with their stamina and it was very evident as the bout traveled on. They lacked the power to put together some good combinations leading the judges to split the result.
