Black Stars assistant coach, Ibrahim Tanko, says that he and his fellow coaches will resolve the team’s goal-scoring challenges before the next set of qualifiers come up in 2018.

On Sunday, Ghana scored only once against Egypt despite creating chances on the day.

In addition, Ghana only scored twice at home during the World Cup qualifiers leading to major concerns on the part of observers.

Tanko, himself a former Black Stars forward, tells Citi Sports that the challenge will be looked at.

“I think we have good strikers in the team but Raphael Dwamena has not been himself since he failed his medical with Brighton.

We think he needs more playing time and he will be fine. We created chances against Egypt but we did not take them. We brought on Waris to help and he moved about very well.

However, we will work on putting our chances away and I am sure that we will improve and start scoring again.”

Ghana beat Ethiopia 5-0 in the first AFCON 2019 qualifier and fans of the team will hope that the scoring trend will improve when the series resumes next year.

Black Stars 1st assistant coach, Ibrahim Tanko, says the final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Egypt on November 12 is another leg of the rebuilding process started by head coach Kwesi Appiah.

On his appointment in May, Kwesi Appiah stated that he was going to form a new team for the future and that, all the matches in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 African Nations Cup would serve as tools to help him create a formidable team that would challenge for titles on the continent.

With the 2018 World Cup ticket in the pocket of the Egyptians, Ghana has nothing to play for on paper.

However, Tanko, in an interview with journalists, said he saw the match as another opportunity to test the team and see what some new players had to offer.

“We are building a team as we have always said and so, we are going to try some new players. The game is on November 12 and we will some observe new faces and then, see what outcome we get against Egypt.”

The likes of Nasiru Mohammed of BK Hacken in Sweden and Nana Opoku Ampomah of Belgian side, Waasland-Beveren, have been given first-time call-ups while Kasim Nuhu returns after he was called up for the first time when Ghana played Uganda and Saudi Arabia in October.

Nuhu scored in the 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia in an international friendly on October.

Regulars like Asamoah Gyan and Mubarak Wakaso have also been called back for the match against Egypt which will be played in Cape Coast.
